It's time for Troop 1970 annual fundraiser!
Mulch 2025 is here!

Selling mulch has been the primary fundraiser for Troop 1970 for many years in the Reston / Herndon area. The scouts deliver 50 Lb bags of double shredded and aged oak-bark mulch to your home or neighborhood. Each bag covers an area of approx. 3' x 3' at a depth of 4 inches.

We offer free delivery to your home in the Reston, Herndon, Oakhill, Oakton, and Vienna areas for order of 20 bags or more.

Would you like to order mulch for your neighborhood or local business? We can do that too - though just one delivery address per order.

Delivery Date: March 8-9 2025 (bad weather back up date March 15-16).

Troop 1970 sells mulch every winter for delivery in spring as a fund raiser to support scotung efforts for campouts, summer camp and to run an enriching program for Reston & Herndon youth.

Troop 1970 is very pleased to announce that two of its scouts, Sam Garnett and Adam Delacourt, were each awarded the rank of Eagle scout.

On January 3, 2024, Adam Delacourt successfully completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review. Adam and his family (Ted, Linda and Peter) have significantly contributed to Scouting, Campouts, fundraising, and the Troop High Adventure program over many years, and have positively impacted many Scouts. Congratulations to Adam, and we look forward to his continued positive impact and contributions to Troop 1970!

On January 4, 2024, Sam Garnett successfully completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review. Sam Garnett and his parents – Mike and Denisa, have significantly contributed to Scouting, campouts, fund raising, troop IT systems and website, and the troop high adventure program over many years, and have positively impacted many Scouts. Congratulations to Sam, and best of luck as he returns to university this month to continue his studies in computer science and physics.

Troop 1970 spent a weekend in September camping out and cycling 27 miles from Spring Hill Gap to Cumberland MD, then transited up to Frostburg where we road down the mountain trail back to Cumberland.

The scouts of Troop 1970 had a blast this summer at Bashore Scout Reservation playing games, earning merit badges, rock wall climbing, and on the archery and rifler range.

Scout Troop 1970 is having our annual MULCH fundraiser. Our Scouts and families will deliver 3 cubic foot bags of top-quality mulch to your home on the weekend of March 10th to March 12th.

Congratulation to Owen Silva, Troop 1970’s newest Eagle Scout. Owen has made significant contributions to Scouting and the Community during his time at Troop 1970. We are so proud of him and are looking forward to his future accomplishments as he completes high school this year and heads off to college.

Scouts from Troop 1970 earned the Mount Vernon Historic Trail patch last weekend. In addition to following the trail and answering the questions, the boys got to tour George Washington's house during Scouting Days at Mount Vernon.
