Pibbles n Kibbles Animal Rescue

Pibbles n Kibbles Animal Rescue 501 (c)(3) non-profit Animal Rescue We are a small rescuer of dogs from the local shelters, stray dogs, etc. We are foster based but will occasionally use temp.

boarding when necessary. All dogs are vetted, which includes being spayed/neutered, vaccines, dewormed, and chipped before going to their new homes (and any other special vet needs). We do home checks! Adoption isn't first come first serve, it's all about finding the right/best home for our dogs.

MAYOR BASS LOVES MURDERING INNOCENT ANIMALS.

Get • ‼️LA Animal Services has shockingly sent a letter to foster families demanding that they either adopt their foster dog or return that dog to the shelter by June 9‼️

Let that sink in.

This is happening just weeks before the Fourth of July, when we all know shelters experience a huge influx of lost and displaced animals. Instead of supporting foster homes by checking on the dog, actively showcasing their animals and helping them find adopters, LA Animal Services is creating a situation that will force more animals back into already strained shelters.

If you are fostering a dog through LA Animal Services, please do not bring that dog back to the shelter right now. For many of these animals, foster homes are the difference between life and death.

A new General Manager begins on Monday. Let's hope this dangerous and irresponsible decision is immediately reversed.

And cats you ask❓ They are not even taking in stray cats. They are turned away to be left on the street to multiply and be killed.

Shame on you, Mayor Bass and LA Animal Services.

EVICT BASS!! VOTE SPENCER PRATT!!
Evict current sitting council members since they are part of the problem!!

Get • It’s time to stop giving career politicians the opportunity to waste or mismanage billions of taxpayer dollars while our streets fall apart, our communities suffer, and innocent animals are left with no protection. People are tired of watching those in power live comfortably while everyday families, the homeless, and defenseless animals are paying the price.

Los Angeles deserves leaders who will fight for the people, fight for the animals, and bring real accountability ,not more empty promises. And for me, Spencer Pratt is the first person I’ve seen in a long time willing to speak up for those who truly have no voice. video edited by amazing

IMPORTANT!! ACTION REQUIRED!!

Get • The only minutes of joy most LA shelter dogs get come from Dogs Playing for Life. That program ends July 1 unless City Council acts.
Right now, LA’s 6 city shelters house thousands of dogs in concrete kennels. Without DPFL playgroups: no walks, no play, no enrichment, no data about how they behave with other dogs (the single most important thing for adoption).
Cost to save it: less than 1/100th of 1% of LA’s $14.85 billion budget.
🚨 TODAY (Fri Apr 24) at 1 PM — your first chance to speak up in person. 📍 LA City Hall, Council Chamber Room 340, 200 N Spring St. 📅 Second hearing Mon Apr 27 at 3:30 PM, same place.
One minute of public comment is all it takes. Don’t know what to say? The full script is on slide 6.
Council locks the final budget June 6. Every email, every comment, every share between now and then matters.
➡ Swipe for 3 ways to act this week — script, email addresses, and submission link included.
🐾 Save this post for the details. 🐾 Send it to the most dog-obsessed Angeleno you know. 🐾 Tag your councilmember.

Get • 🚨CALL TO ACTION TO REVERSE UNACCEPTABLE BUDGET CUTS TO LAAS❗️

The mayor's proposed budget contains unacceptable cuts to animal food and medical supplies. She also decided not to fund the Dogs Playing for Life contract.

In 2018-19, the animal food budget was $520,000. This year's budget only allotted $200,000 and when LAAS ran out just a few months into the new fiscal year, they had to start using donations from the Animal Welfare Trust Fund (AWTF). Since 2020-21, the city has forced LAAS to use around $900,000 in donations to buy food.

The medical supplies budget has also been slashed. In 2018-19, the department had $488,591 to buy medical supplies. In 2022-2023 the amount was cut to $388,591 and in the proposed budget the mayor only allotted $49,000. These cuts have forced LAAS to use over $740,000 in donations from the AWTF to buy medical supplies since 2019-20.

The AWTF will be further depleted if these cuts are allowed to remain in place.

The contract for Dogs Playing for Life (DPFL) was not funded. DPFL does more than playgroups: they help terrified dogs become confident, they help match dogs with adopters, help train staff and volunteers, and help the medical team with fractious dogs. They not only save lives, they make the shelter safer for everyone. To not fund this essential program is devastating for the dogs and the people who love them.

The budget is not yet final as changes can be made by the City Council. Please email members of the Budget Committee and demand that money be allocated for animal food and medical supplies, as well as Dogs Playing for Life:

Get • Volunteers say animal abuse and neglect continues on Skid Row .. and I saw it myself when we did this story. Dogs are being bred and sold...homeless are testing drugs on dogs... animals are injured and being denied medical care...one dog was found with her eyes and private barks glued shut. The list goes on and on...

My question has always been — why are we allowing an environment that resembles a third world country to exist on the streets of Downtown LA?

Animal advocates have been to countless city council meetings, begging for change...but say nothing is being done.

Skid Row is represented by Councilmember Ysabel Jurado. I reached out to her office MULTIPLE times and she never replied to me.

The press office for Karen Bass never replied to my request for an interview. They sent a statement instead.

From Mayor’s Press Office:

“More than 100 LAPD Operations-Central Bureau officers have received intensive training focused on animal cruelty. Since then, animals have been rescued, multiple citations and arrests have been made, and potential animal abuse or cruelty cases have been referred to the District Attorney and City Attorney.

“In addition to conducting follow-ups with roughly 100 dog owners to address complaints, LAPD and LA Animal Services have also partnered on support and prevention efforts, providing pet owners with food, leashes, and other essential supplies, and helping ensure access to veterinary care when necessary.”

This is the 2nd story I have done on Skid Row. The first was last June. I can tell you nothing looks different to me.

Thank God for volunteers and groups like Starts With One Today who are providing supplies and medical care to pets in need.

This is a HUGE MESS. Animals and people are suffering. I don’t know the solution, but I know WE CAN DO BETTER.
