Traffic Alert: SE May Valley Road Closure Begins June 15

Families who travel through May Valley, Mirrormont, Tiger Mountain, or the Issaquah-Hobart area should plan for significant traffic impacts this summer.

King County will replace the aging Fifteen Mile Creek Bridge on SE May Valley Road, resulting in lane restrictions and a full road closure that will affect local traffic and some school bus routes.

Important Dates
🚧 Beginning June 2
• Temporary lane restrictions may begin.
• School buses and emergency vehicles will be prioritized whenever possible.
🚧 Beginning June 15
• SE May Valley Road will fully close at the bridge location.
• No vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian access will be available through the construction zone.
🚧 Projected Reopening
• August 23, 2026
• Construction is expected to last 10–12 weeks and could extend into the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Who Will Be Affected?
This closure will primarily impact families attending:
Maple Hills Elementary
Maywood Middle School
Liberty High School

Families who live in or travel through May Valley, Mirrormont, Tiger Mountain, and surrounding areas should expect longer travel times and increased traffic on detour routes.

School Bus Information
The Issaquah School District Transportation Department is actively planning for the closure.
• Bus stop locations will remain the same.
• Families on affected routes will receive updated bus schedules in early June.
• Morning pickup times may be earlier to ensure students arrive at school on time.
• Afternoon drop-off times may be later due to detours and traffic.

What You Can Do Now
✔ Review the detour route.
✔ Practice your alternate route before June 15.
✔ Allow extra travel time for drop-off and pickup.
✔ Watch for transportation updates from the district.

❤️ We Need Your Help for BINGO & Pizza Night ❤️

BINGO & Pizza Night has become one of Maple Hills’ most loved family traditions. The laughter, prizes, pizza, and excitement make it a night our students look forward to every year.

But the reality is — events like this only happen when families step up to help.

Right now, we are still short on volunteers for setup, pizza service, bingo support, cleanup, and prize tables. Without enough help, it becomes extremely difficult to run events safely and successfully.

We also need to be honest that the future of events like BINGO Night depends on volunteer support. If participation continues to decline, we may need to reconsider whether this event can continue in future years. This is a real consideration with the incoming board.

Many hands make light work, and even one short shift can make a huge difference.

If you’ve ever enjoyed a PTA event, this is a great opportunity to help keep these experiences alive for our kids and community.
