Eternal Encouragement

Eternal Encouragement Eternal Encouragement is dedicated to providing you with encouragement that will help you be the bes We are humbled to be a small part of it.

In 1997, Lorrie Flem began asking friends what their favorite magazine was. When she explained what she was looking for, the response was invariably, "That sounds wonderful! Why don't you do it?" This was not at all what she had in mind! Lorrie just wanted to subscribe to a publication that would leave her feeling as if she had had a good chat with a friend, a visit that encouraged her to keep tra

veling the roads that the Lord was leading her down. She wanted to be challenged to continue striving to be the best wife, mother, homemaker, homeschooler, and friend that she could be. Eventually, the Lord opened all the doors and removed any barriers, until there was no doubt in Lorrie's mind that this was His idea. After 13 years we still strive to make Eternal Encouragement (formerly TEACH) Magazine that hoped-for magazine for all of us.

God done some pretty powerful things in my life. In Matthew 20 Jesus denounces the cities where He had done most of His miracles because they saw but did not repent. Here are people who had been there and seen His glory through His miracles yet they chose not to change. Have you been an eye-witness to His grace, His goodness, His glory? His handiwork should be like a bright light that blazes in your life. But do you know what God's miracles in your life are supposed to do? That blaze of light is supposed to show you the areas that you need to see and deal with: sin, compromise, anywhere you've been settling for less than His best. How are you changing the “bad.”

Arianne got Levi two of these powerful little LED lights that can clip on the visor of your hat or on your belt. Then you aim the light to where you need illumination. They are really powerful little lights that can really allow you to see in spite of the darkness. What is interesting about them is that they aren’t like a flashlight that also illuminates some of the surrounding area. [ 429 more words. ]

I used to hear people say, “Lord willing” and cringe a little because it seemed like such a cliché. But as I have gotten older, I have to admit those words now often come out of my mouth because they remind me and others that we are ultimately experiencing only the things that God allows into our lives. "Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to this city or that city, spend a year there, carry on business, make money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. I’m not much of an animal person – unless they are of the human variety. I love children. But I can’t help but think of my friend’s big fat cat when I think of contentment. He seems to always be content, sleeping, eating, walking, being petted. And, if he’s not, he calmly gets up and changes his situation so that he is satisfied with things as they are. In Part 1 we saw that in Malachi God clearly intends marriage to be a life-long commitment because if your marriage breaks down, it sounds like your relationship with God breaks down. And to make that happen we have to be proactive and play defensively – rather than offensively. As I prayed over ways that Satan can creep into a marriage it dawned on me that the ones moms struggle with the most are the same areas that you struggle with. [ 510 more words. ]

"The wise man built his house upon the rock . . . The foolish man built his house upon the sand . . . The rain came down and the floods came up, The rain came down and the floods came up. And the house of the LORD stood firm." Floods are scary things. Water can be devastating and destructive. [ 729 more words. ]

Did your parents ever discipline you and say something about how this hurt them more than it would hurt you? Mine did. Have you ever said something along this line to your own children? I have. So, why do we discipline our children when we find it hurts us? Because God says to. Don’t just take my word for it. Please read these words of God: [ 358 more words. ]

She is young, fresh-faced, and giddy while showing me the necklace her new husband bought her. She talked and talked, showed me pictures, and talked some more. I listened, smiled, and prayed for this young couple. Then she said something that hit me like a 2x4” between the eyes: “We aren’t going to have children.” Did I hear that correctly? To confirm I worked to keep my voice neutral, [ 656 more words. ]

As mothers the minute we think we have “arrived” and stop seeking to be better wives, mothers, and homemakers, is the very day that we will begin backsliding. In relationships there is no neutral. There is only momentum and it either goes forward or backward. If you are not moving forward, then you are moving – only backwards now. I want to never be satisfied with where I am spiritually, while at the same time, working on maintaining a never-ending well of joyful contentment in my heart. [ 78 more words. ]
