Our mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Hello Fairwood Elementary Families. Though we're still just beginning the year, note that there are a few items in the Lost & Found currently. We encourage students and grown-ups to come check the Lost & Found for any possible missing items. Any items left at the end of the year will be donated.

Lost & Found is located in the hallway near the MPR entrance.

Thursday, October 22 / 6 - 8 pm

Come mix, mingle, and make a difference! Join us for a fun and relaxed evening at The W**e Alley and discover how you can get involved with the PTSA and help make a positive impact on our school community.

Enjoy light appetizers, drinks available for purchase, great conversation, and a chance to win a fabulous door prize! Whether you’re a returning PTSA member or curious to learn more, this is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow parents and supporters, connect with our community, and see how you can be part of the excitement this year.

Curious about what equity really means? Is it the same as fairness and equality? Join us on October 6 for a conversation about equity, how it affects our community and what it can look like in everyday life.

We will provide dinner. Also, children are welcome, as an ICARE leader will be planning an activity for them. It's important that we have an accurate headcount of kids to make sure we have adequate support.

Please email Melody Ip at [email protected] with any questions or to let us know if you have dietary restrictions. If there's anything specific that you'd like to learn about this topic, please email ahead of time. We’re excited to host an evening of learning and connection!

ICARE stands for Inviting Conversations About Race and Equity. We meet twice a year, and each time, we offer a meal and a separate program for kids. The topic for next month's meeting is Equity and its definition, but in the past, we've talked about using stories to build cultural identity, we explored our own experiences as parents and used them to highlight similarities and differences with each other. We've also talked about recognizing our personal biases and preserving our family's culture. The goal of our gatherings is to normalize talking about race, cultural identity and other related topics, and to learn skills to encourage conversations with our kids.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 6, from 6 - 7:30pm. Please RSVP using the below link.
