Happy Earth Day from SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve ๐๐!!
Today weโre celebrating not just the land, but the community that makes SHADOW what it is. Over the years, weโve heard so many stories from our community about this place. Volunteers who helped restore the original parcel of land have come back to see how much itโs grown, and people who first visited as kids on field trips are now bringing their own families.
In just the past year, more than 250 volunteers have shown up to support our stewardship projects. Weโve been fortunate enough to partner with universities here in Washington and across the country, and collaborated with national organizations like the Audubon Society.
Weโre especially grateful to The Mountaineers, who consistently show up to volunteer and make a huge impact on our restoration work, and to Woodland Park Zoo for helping support our research programs! Weโve also been feeling a lot of love from the community lately, through visits, donations, and even a feature in The Seattle Times that helped us connect with naturalists across the region.
Thank you to all for being a part of SHADOW!
