Feline Friends of Sammamish

Feline Friends of Sammamish Find us in the Renton Highlands down May Valley Road. We're passionate about cats; finding better homes for cats in need....no cat left behind!

Reservations form https://felinefriendsofsammamish.org/visit-the-kitties-at-the-purr-boxx-studio-in-renton/ In early 2019, a group of volunteers were donating their time to the Purrfect Pals adoption center in a local Petco. Our group and efforts grew and later in that same year we became Feline Friends of Sammamish, an official 501c3 non-profit organization. We now have over 40 volunteers, over 1

5 foster families and are continuing to grow! In January 2022, we opened a cat adoption lounge in Renton, located on the Sammamish Animal Sanctuary property. We pride ourselves on the lounge's home-like setting. Our cats aren't caged here; they have the freedom and room to play. Windowsills offer birdwatching opportunities; while sofas, cushions and cat towers offer plenty of places to snooze peacefully. Our rescue cats come from all walks of life. During the year, we make trips to Idaho shelters that we partner with (many of which are kill shelters) and bring back an average of 30 cats per trip, who would otherwise be euthanized. Although the van we use has limited capacity, volunteers have been known to pick up a stray cat on the way home! In addition to abandoned or stray cats, we also take in cats from local families needing to re-home their pet. All cats who come to us get a visit from our volunteer vet as well as whatever flea, deworming medications or shots they need. We never refuse a cat who's in less than perfect health. Instead, we do whatever is necessary to get them the care they need to get well ensuring that their new families won't be burdened with unexpected vet bills. Since October of 2019 we have rescued more than 250 cats! We are determined to leave no cat behind! Would you like to help? We are always looking for more people who are willing to foster our cats while we are looking for their forever home. There are volunteer opportunities to take a shift at the cat lounge; you would help with the feeding, scooping the cat boxes and cleaning. Of course, loving on the cats and playing with them while you are there is also very important! Transportation from the cat lounge to vet appointments and back is also an important need. If you would rather donate money than time, that is always very much appreciated! For more information please email: [email protected]

The illusive Checkers! From the volunteers: “Checkers and Stripes were very playful, they especially love the gray wand toy. Checkers also let us give her some pets. Wendy spent most of her time in the cat tree looking out the window.”

Deaf or DGAF? She’s old so she might be used to our sounds or just over us, but deafness in cats is a real thing and can develop in aging.

She’s got her own room in our studio where she’s comfortable with her surroundings. She prefers to sleep in this carrier. We found a smaller space helps her aim with the litter box.

We are open to finding her a good home to retire in but just as happy to have her here with us for her remaining days.

Sometimes we let fosters (and their kids) name the kittens.

This group is 8 weeks old and super friendly. They did not want to be penned up and only wanted out to get some snuggles!

They joined a PawArty® event over the weekend and met some new friends.

Notes from the foster:
All of the kittens were named by my son!

🤍 Gizmo #2 (white kitty) is the chill one of the group. She loves naps, relaxing, and taking life easy.

🤍🩶 Mr. Hunter (white and tabby kitty) is the smartest and most adventurous. She loves exploring and playing with her brother, Gunnar.

🧡🤍 Gunnar (orange and white kitty) is the friendliest and most playful. He loves attention and is always ready for fun.

🩶 Yesi (tabby kitty) is the smallest and newest addition to the litter. He was found after his three siblings, so we’re still helping everyone adjust and working through some of his spicy kitten moments. We’re excited to continue getting to know his unique personality as he settles in with the family.

‼️Urgent rehoming request!

Susu is a petite five year old female kitty who is otherwise healthy except she does have FIV. Cats with FIV can still live long normal lives when managed correctly.

The most important management goals are to reduce their risk of acquiring secondary infections and prevent the spread of FIV to other cats. Both of these goals are best met by keeping cats indoors and isolated from other cat.

Her person moved in with a new place that has a pit bull who is not cat friendly. She is staying at her old apartment with previous roommate who is moving this Sunday.

They have contacted 4 other organizations and posted to Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet and posted in the King County rehoming Facebook group.

Please share or reach out. Thank you.
