What if everything you learned about “natural” was wrong?

Last night at Hilltown Commons — our Campus for the Curious — we had the honor of screening Second Nature. Narrated by Elliot Page and directed by Sundance Fellow Drew Denny, the film uncovers the profound biological diversity and fluid identity found throughout the animal kingdom — dismantling the myth that queerness is “unnatural,” one species at a time.

Curiosity means staying open to the answers, even when the textbooks get rewritten. So grateful for the Q&A with Drew alongside artist + activist Zaria Forman, whose monumental works of glaciers and oceans draw us into urgent connection with the natural world.

Join us for an evening with Second Nature, the bold and thought-provoking documentary that covers everything you didn't learn in high school biology.

Narrated by Elliot Page, the film follows trailblazing trans evolutionary biologist Dr. Joan Roughgarden as she meets groundbreaking scientists exploring the 1,500+ animal species that engage in same-s*x s*xual behavior and parenting, s*x change, matriarchies, and more. From clownfish to bonobos to penguins, Second Nature dismantles the myth that queerness is "unnatural" — because in nature, it's absolutely everywhere.
