Join JCSWCD and Rensselaer Parks for a hands-on Rain Garden Workshop! 🌱

Learn how to design a rain garden, then put your knowledge into action by helping restore the rain garden at Potawatomi Park. Participants will plant native species while learning how to incorporate rain gardens into their own landscapes.

No experience is needed. Bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to make a difference in our local community!

📅 Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026

⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (CST)

📍Morning Location: Jasper County Public Library – Rensselaer Branch (208 W. Susan St., Rensselaer, IN 47978)

📍Afternoon Location: Potawatomi Park (155 N. Austin Ave., Rensselaer, IN 47978)

The JCSWCD team had a great time participating in Kankakee River Days! 🛶

This free, hands-on environmental education program connects students with the Kankakee River through canoeing and interactive learning stations. Along the way, students explored local wildlife, water quality, soil health, river history, conservation, and the importance of protecting the natural resources within the Kankakee River Watershed. 💧

What a great way to take learning outside the classroom! 🤓

The JCSWCD and JCWCB team enjoyed spending time at the Re*****on Farmer's Market on Friday! 🧺

From native plant and cover crop seeds to rain gauges, our table offered helpful information, resources, and tools for gardeners, farmers, and landowners. 🌱

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn about conservation practices that make a difference on farms, in backyards, and throughout our local community! 👏

Last week, students took to the Tippecanoe River for a hands-on learning experience at Tippecanoe River State Park. 💦

Along the way, they learned about the river and its watershed, explored riparian areas and local wildlife, conducted water tests, journaled their observations, and, of course, paddled plenty! 🛶

A special thank you to Arrow Head Country RC&D, our fellow County SWCDs, and everyone who helped make this educational day on the river possible! 👏
