📚✏️ We had such a fun day at Harvest yesterday! We had the absolute pleasure of hosting children's author Shannon Anderson at our school!

She spent the day connecting with all of our students, sharing her journey to becoming a writer, and giving everyone a sneak peek at her books. Our 3rd–6th graders even got to participate in an exclusive poetry session!

📖✨ And the learning didn’t stop when the school day ended. Shannon also led a Writing from Scratch professional development session for our staff to help build confidence and motivation in writing for our students.

A big thank you to Shannon for bringing so much energy, knowledge, and creative spark to our Harvest family! 💙💛

👋 Meet Mrs. Miller!

Christina Miller is our wonderful new 1st/2nd grade teacher! In addition to starting a fresh school year with us, she just got married this summer! 💍

Mrs. Miller comes to us from Indianapolis. While this is her 4th year teaching, it is her very first year teaching general education, and we are thrilled to have her leading the classroom.

Outside of school, Mrs. Miller is a huge fan of Wordle, word searches, or a good crossword puzzle.

When asked about her favorite part of being at Harvest Christian Academy, she shared how much she values the collaboration between parents and teachers. She loves how everyone works together as a team to shepherd students both spiritually and academically.

We are incredibly blessed to have Mrs. Miller on our team this year. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to her new role, and a big congratulations on her marriage! 💙💛

💛 Happy Pastor Appreciation Day! 💙

Today we want to take a moment to honor and thank the many faithful pastors and church leaders who serve our community so well! We are blessed to have 17 local churches represented in our school, and we are so thankful for the faithful shepherds who lead these congregations.

Thank you, pastors, for the countless hours you spend studying and teaching God's Word, for the prayers you faithfully lift up for our families, and for the character and integrity you model. Thank you for making yourselves available to walk alongside people in their greatest joys and deepest struggles, often in ways that few others ever see.

Your faithful ministry is a tremendous blessing to our community. Through your teaching, encouragement, prayers, and example, God is at work strengthening families, shaping lives, and pointing people to Jesus Christ. Much of this work happens quietly and without recognition, but its impact is profound.

At Harvest Christian Academy, we are especially grateful for the way our local churches faithfully shepherd the students and families we serve. We believe that the spiritual growth of children is rooted in the partnership of families and churches, and we count it a privilege to come alongside that important work through Christian education.

Thank you, Lord, for the faithful pastors and church leaders You have placed in our community! We are grateful for each of you! 🙏✨

🤗 Last night we hosted our first Family Fun Night. I had the hardest time narrowing down which photos to post. Looking through them, this night perfectly showed how we truly are better together. 💙💛

It was so wonderful seeing all of our families come together for an evening packed with games, tons of laughter, and great fellowship.

Honestly, one of the biggest blessings at HCA is the incredible community God is building here. We are deeply grateful for the families who pour into our school and make it such a special place to be. It's a privilege to watch our students grow not just academically, but as a tight-knit community rooted in Christ.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and made the night so memorable! We are already counting down the days until our next family event. 🗓️

🚒 We had some very special guests at Harvest Christian Academy! The Rensselaer Vol. Fire Department stopped by to teach our students all about fire safety.

Our students got to ask lots of questions, learn life-saving safety tips, and check out some real firefighting gear up close!

Thank you so much to the RFD for spending your afternoon with us yesterday and keeping our kids safe! 💙

💛💙 HCA Words of Wisdom 💙💛

“You First.”

It’s a phrase our students hear constantly, reminding all of us of one of the ways we can love sacrificially.

Putting others first means pausing to think about someone else. It means choosing to serve instead of being served, sharing willingly, and finding small ways to help those around us.

While putting others first rarely comes naturally, it is something we can intentionally practice every day. Our goal is for students to take these words to heart and live them out daily with their classmates, teachers, and families. 💙

📚 Our 1st and 2nd graders got to spend some time reading to our kindergarteners, and they all had an absolute blast! It was so sweet watching our older students encourage and help our younger students as they shared stories together.

We absolutely love creating opportunities for our students to learn from one another, serve one another, and build relationships across grade levels. We cherish these sweet moments that make our school feel like a family! 💙💛

🧑‍🔬 Our students had an absolute blast getting their hands dirty with some real science skills recently!

Mrs. Damick has been working with the kids to practice how to observe closely, form a hypothesis, test out their ideas, and draw conclusions based on what they find. 🔎

We are so thankful for Mrs. Damick and for her talent for teaching science in such a fun, hands-on way! 💙

🤝 Our Chapel theme this month is "Better Together," and we’ve been focusing on Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

To bring this to life, our teachers put on a fun, chaotic skit with a giant parachute to show the kids that working together isn't always easy! At first, there was plenty of frustration and struggle. But the moment they started communicating and pulling in the same direction, everything clicked.

It was the perfect, hands-on way to show our students how our three core questions can help when teamwork gets tough:

💭 Do I know the whole story?
💭 Are my words kind?
💭 What might God be teaching me?

Our prayer is that these become automatic, everyday tools for our students when they deal with misunderstandings, hurt feelings, or playground conflicts. We want to give them practical ways to build godly friendships, navigate the hard moments, and truly grow side-by-side. 🙏
