It's cases like this one that makes this team do what they do! Shout out to all the pieces of the puzzle. Thank you for supporting us emotionally and financially.

Travis Owsley was sentenced to 50 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, pursuant to a plea agreement, on November 26, 2024, in the Jasper County Superior Court. Owsley pled guilty to Child Molesting, as a Class A Felony, (because the offense happened prior to July 1, 2014) and accepted the maximum sentence allowable by law for that offense.

On June 14, 2022, Detective Brandon Napier of the Jasper County Sheriff's Department, received two songs that were believed to have been written by Travis Owsley. They were in a folder that Owsley admitted that he had possessed. The songs were graphic in nature and indicated Owsley's desire to have s*x with children. On June 20, 2022, Detective Napier received and read a journal or manifesto of sorts.

It was believed that Owsley wrote this because the bottom of the first article of the manifesto was signed by Travis Owsley, and the manifesto included a list of girls Owsley had been s*xually active with. It further gave a fairly detailed timeline of Owsley's life and his age, as well as the ages of the girls he had been in contact with. Detectives were able to track down and verify some of the names on the list of girls, not only in Indiana, but in North Carolina and Texas. Detectives were able to confirm that Owsley was residing in the locations during the approximate timeframes that Owsley wrote down.

In the second article of the manifesto, Owsley refers to himself as a "pe*****le." Owsley also talks about preferring children under the age of three (3) because they cannot really speak yet.

Further, Owsley states he was 21 years old, indicating an offense in Indiana occurred approximately 2002. Owsley indicated he was living with a couple who had a 4 month old daughter at that time, and that they had another child while Owsley was residing there.

Owsley wrote that he would babysit both of the daughters and would bathe them as well as sleep with them while n**e. Additionally, Owsley stated that he would would pe*****te his victim with his finger.

Indiana State Police Laboratory conducted a handwriting analysis where the handwriting of the journal was compared with known writing of Owsley. The examiner concluded that they were virtually certain that the manifesto/journal was written by Owsley.

On July 8, 2022, Detectives were able to interview a parent of the victim. They were able to confirm they lived in Jasper County in 2002, and that Owsley resided with them. Further, they confirmed Owsley would babysit the victim and bathed her.

Owsley was arrested and has been incarcerated at the Jasper County Jail since June 14, 2022.

Thank you to Jasper County Sherriff's Department and the Indiana State Police Laboratory Division, Forensic Document Unit for their hard work in investigating this matter to bring forth justice and to prevent risk of further harm to the community.

Follow up from our fundraiser. People showed up and shared their love. We laughed. We ate. We celebrated. In the end we raised a little under $6000. That will go a long way in helping children. This week we are already scheduled to conduct one interview and there is one in the wing pending details. We are also aware of a death caused by unfortunate events and another that is life threatening. Those cases won't involve our team but our thoughts go to the first responders involved.
