Photograph taken in 1919 at Camp Cody, New Mexico, shows hundreds of soldiers standing in formation to create the outline of a horse’s head. Taken after the end of WWI, it was a tribute to "The Devil", a horse belonging to the commander of the Army Remount Station at Camp Cody, New Mexico. These stations were used to train horses, including wild and untrained horses to be war animals, hauling heavy loads and withstand gunfire.
