Why Hands-On Learning Matters… And Why This Opportunity Is So Rare 🐎

There’s a big difference between hearing about anatomy… and actually seeing and feeling it with your own hands.

That’s exactly what makes our Distal Limb Dissection Event on April 17th so unique.

This isn’t a lecture.
This isn’t just watching from the sidelines.
This is your chance to glove up and be part of the learning experience!

Attendees will have the rare opportunity to work directly with cadaver equine distal limbs, allowing you to:
*See structures in real life — not just in photos or diagrams
*Feel tendons, ligaments, and joint structures firsthand
*Better understand injuries, function, and movement
*Ask questions and learn directly in the moment

Hands-on learning is one of the most effective ways to truly understand anatomy — and opportunities like this are extremely rare. Access to cadaver material, guided by a veterinarian, in a small interactive setting is something you simply don’t come across often.

This is exactly why our attendees love these events — you don’t just sit and listen… You participate.

Even more important, this Distal Limb event is being brought back by request, and we do not plan to repeat it again for at least a few years as we continue expanding our education series.

If you’ve ever wanted a deeper understanding of how the horse’s lower limb functions, this is your chance.

Washoe County is going to begin looking at its code to address agritourism opportunities in the county. Agritourism takes many forms but may include farm stands, U-pick operations, tours, and workshops. This meeting is an opportunity for farmers, ranchers, small business owners, and members of the public to share ideas and provide feedback.

Join us April 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washoe County Complex Building A - Large HR Conference Room. (1001 E. 9th St., Reno)

Washoe County government and residents continue their review of the Washoe County Equine Business Codes.

Phase 2 of the Public Outreach was completed in late March and early April 2026 and we are hoping a second revised draft will be available soon.

The Equine Business Code Update Annotated Draft
which shows draft code amendments and includes explanatory footnotes was made available to the public as an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft code amendments during Phase 2 of public outreach.

Phase 1 Outreach was completed in January 2026; link to the results is here: https://www.washoecounty.gov/csd/planning_and_development/hot_topics/Codes_for_Equine_Businesses.php -e3e67aa20ec764bce0a6957482c0e79278f263f43d2a46b6619fabc7b4a129ec
