Education Alliance of Washoe County

Education Alliance of Washoe County Our Mission is to unite our community to illuminate and clear pathways for every Washoe County students’ brightest future.

Education Alliance works with many diverse state, city, community, civic, industry, and business groups in support of education. These efforts are directed at initiatives that bring together education with business and community organizations. Education Alliance’s governing Board is comprised of 17 dynamic business, community, and education leaders. Three permanent board members include the WCSD S

uperintendent, and the Presidents of the University of Nevada, Reno, and Truckee Meadows Community College. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we rely on funding from charitable donations, grants, and support from the Washoe County School District, a long-standing relationship of more than 30 years.

A heartfelt thank you to the NV Energy Foundation for their generous $20,000 investment in the Keep Kids in Class campaign.

This contribution strengthens our community-wide effort to help students overcome the barriers that too often keep them out of the classroom. Family Resource Centers are a critical part of that work, providing welcoming spaces where families can connect with support for housing stability, health care, food, clothing, transportation, legal aid, mental health services, and more.

When students' basic needs are met, attending school regularly becomes easier. They can stay engaged and build brighter futures that benefit our entire community. We are grateful to partner with organizations like the NV Energy Foundation that understand lasting solutions require collaboration, compassion, and a commitment to supporting the whole child and family.

We are thrilled to announce that the NV Energy Foundation is continuing its support of our Washoe County School District Middle School Engagement Program and Family Resource Centers!

Because of committed partners like NV Energy, we are making real progress in curbing chronic absenteeism and ensuring students stay motivated, engaged, and on track for success. In fact, just last year, 71% of WCSD schools improved their attendance — a powerful sign that together, we are turning the tide on a complex challenge.
