🌱 Making a difference in our community!

Last Saturday, our Pennington Keystone Club teens joined Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, One Truckee River and the City of Reno for a river cleanup at Brodhead Park.

Keystone Club is a leadership and community service program for teens, giving Club members opportunities to develop leadership skills while making a difference in their communities.

Our teens learned more about the unique importance of our watershed while getting their hands dirty — planting native species, picking up trash and spreading mulch throughout the park. 💚

We're proud of our Keystone members for giving back and helping keep our community beautiful! City of Reno Government One Truckee River Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful

KOLO CARES: Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows CEO Mike Wurm received the Lynn Atcheson Lifetime Achievement Award today at Truckee Meadows Tomorrow's Accentuate the Positive ceremony — the event's top honor.

"I am fully aware the award is not about me. It is about the values I know all of us in this room represent: dedication, perseverance, generosity, and making a meaningful difference," Atcheson said in presenting the award.

Wurm has led the club for 31 years, growing it from a single site to 55 locations across six counties. In his acceptance speech, Wurm credited his wife, his predecessor, and the club's board and 500+ staff for the organization's success — and revealed he plans to step down as CEO at the end of the year.

21 other individuals and organizations were also honored, including the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Volunteers of America and Street Reach.

Make Fall Break a Little More Special

Looking for something extra for your child this fall break? Specialty Camps at our Pennington Clubhouse offer fun, focused activities for an additional fee.

And there’s a bonus: the weekly fall break program fee is included with your specialty camp registration. That means specialty campers can still participate in regular fall break programming before and after their specialty camp each day, as long as they attend at Pennington. https://www.bgctm.org/programs/school-breaks/

Reno Ballers Basketball — Tryouts Sept. 26

The Reno Ballers Basketball program is back for its 29th season! For nearly three decades, Reno Ballers has been developing young athletes in grades 3–8 while teaching lessons in sportsmanship, responsibility, and hard work.

Join the thousands of players who have been part of Reno Ballers — many of whom have gone on to play at the high school and college levels. This is more than basketball; it’s a program that builds athletes, leaders, and community.
