The Nature Conservancy is proud to sponsor the Northwest Transmission Summit, where leaders from across the region will gather to discuss how we build the grid to power our energy future.
Why transmission? Because even with electricity from solar and wind, energy efficiency measures, and local generation, an affordable, and reliable energy system requires a modern, well connected transmission grid. New renewable energy resources can’t deliver benefits without the capacity to move power where it’s needed.

At TNC, we believe smart transmission planning and investments can:
💡 Improve access to affordable and responsible energy
☀️ Strengthen grid reliability
🤝 Support local economies
🌱 Respect Tribal Nations, communities, and natural resources

We’re committed to a community first, collaborative approach that maximizes benefits for people, nature, and the climate.

🔥 Controlled burning and cultural fire - both are important tools essential to restore dry forest ecosystems. 🔥

For thousands of years, Indigenous people have used fire to care for dry forests and other ecosystems. 🌲 Starting in the 19th century, forest management practices and policies removed fire from the land and prevented Indigenous stewardship.

Today, fire practitioners from Tribes, federal and state agencies and organizations like TNC are working to return beneficial fire to the land.

Visit nature.org/FireOnTheGround to learn more about the history of beneficial fire and efforts to bring it back 🔥

Every year, thousands gather in The City of Elko to celebrate the culture and land of the west through poetry, song and film at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, where The Nature Conservancy was a proud sponsor. 🐎 🎶 As part of the event, the Grazing in Fire-Prone Landscapes program featured TNC's Rangeland Ecologist Kevin Badik. Together with ranchers, and land managers, they explored collaborative approaches to building resilience and restoring fire-prone landscapes while supporting the long-term viability of working ranches.

Oasis Valley, just outside Las Vegas, is home to unique habitats where migratory birds thrive. 🐦 Together with Nevada Department of Wildlife, we’ve installed a Motus station here to help follow their journeys. The Motus Wildlife Tracking System uses tiny radio tags and a global network of receivers to track bird and wildlife movement, providing powerful data for migration research.
