Early Voting in Nevada starts this Saturday, and our partners at Washoe County have a simple ask: Don’t Wait, Washoe!

From October 17 through 30, all early Vote Centers are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offer two ways to get it done. Vote in person at a location near home or work, or bring a completed mail ballot and leave it in the drop box on site. Either way, there is no postmark to worry about, no mail delay, and no wondering whether it made it.

The last day of Early Voting is Friday, October 30, and every ballot in by then gives election staff a head start on processing, so results arrive faster for the businesses and communities we serve.

Northern Nevada was well represented last week at Area Development’s Women in Economic Development Forum in Chicago. Veronica Chavez, AVP of Business Retention & Expansion, Amanda Berry Jones, AVP of Business Attraction and Danielle Randol, Director of Business Development made the trip alongside members of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) team.

Three days of sessions and roundtables brought together women in our field from across the country and the site consultants who influence where companies locate and expand. Learning alongside peers nationwide helps our team keep building opportunity for the businesses and communities that make up Northern Nevada. 💙

Last month, Northern NV Now donated Cedar Valves to fire departments across Northern Nevada. Thank you to Cedar Valve CEO Tim Mickelson and founder Eric Topacio for joining us at the Regional Public Safety Training Center to demonstrate the valve and train crews on it. The quick release valve lets crews disconnect a charged supply line without shutting down the hydrant, saving time when every second counts.

Supporting a sustainable economy in Northern Nevada means investing in the communities that we work with closely. Every home, school, and business depends on its local fire department, and putting new equipment in the hands of the crews who protect them is an investment in our region's public safety infrastructure. 🤝

Reno-Tahoe International Airport celebrated the inaugural Southwest Airlines flight to Nashville last week. Our President & CEO, Taylor Adams, joined the program to share what the new nonstop means for our business community.

Meet Aron Willis, Executive Vice President, Electricity Segment at Ormat Technologies, Inc. He is an innovator, responsible for developing ways to improve plant performance, leveraging advanced AI tools, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Aron has spent more than 25 years in power generation – managing large operating fleets and developing and building new assets, he has held significant leadership assignments in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Aron earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Calgary. His career has centered on sustainable energy, operational excellence, and leading high-performing teams.

He and his family are proud to call Northern Nevada home. Outside of work, they enjoy golfing and the region's outdoor recreation.

Patagonia runs its main distribution center right here in Reno, and this week Veronica Chavez, Danielle Randol, and Kimberly Yaeger from the Northern NV Now team got a firsthand look inside.

The tour included a new repair facility and expanded Worn Wear operations, which give used gear a second life through trade-in and resale. Thank you to the Patagonia team for hosting us and sharing how their work in Northern Nevada continues to grow! 🤝
