⚒️⛏️ BLTS Trail Days ⛏️⚒️

Saturday and Sunday, June 13 & 14, 7:00AM-10:00AM
Looking for a few folks to help clearing the cut weeds behind the gas powered brush saw. Most of the Flow Trails at Sierra Vista Park are getting encroached by the wild mustard and grasses. Need to clear them up so riders can see and use the full trail tread. Doing it early to beat the heat.

Where: Meet at upper parking lot of Sierra Vista Park
When: Saturday and Sunday, June 13 & 14
Time: 7:00AM-10:00AM

For both days, please RSVP with Curtis at 775 232-8483. Please dress in long pants and long shirts, wear sturdy shoes, work gloves, bike helmet, eye protection. Bring water, snack and a smile.

Had an Army of four on National Trail Day under the watchful eyes of Jack T Trail Dog. We were going to work on The Bacon Strip Trail, but due to the small number of participants, the predicted high winds and a Red Flag Warning starting at 11AM, we decided to do finish work on the middle section of the Stagecoach trail. We did a major league brushing, cleared loose rocks and naturalized the borrow pits. This is the section that Steve Wentz recently reworked and enhanced. There was no need to do anything to the trail tread as it is compacting well and riding fantastic. The top section now has great line of site and can be run a speed. We'll still need to come back and finish up on the lower reworked section on another trail day. Ginny from the USFS Carson Ranger District came out and participated in the trail day. Enjoy.

Had an Army of three Thistle Wackers Wednesday evening to take a bite out of the invasive thistles at Sierra Vista Park. Going on four years battling the issue and making good progress. But thistle can live in the soil for up to 10 years before sprouting. So the battle will need to continue for some time. We were ahead of most of the blossoming this year which makes the job easier. Turned out to be a nice evening. Hope more of you can come and help at our next thistle wacking day.

This Saturday is National Trails Day and BLTS is holding a Trail Day to do trail maintenance on the Bacon Strip Trail. Time: 08-12, Meet at Hoge Rd Trailhead. Please RSVP Curtis at 775 232-8483 if you plan to attend. Come out and earn some Trail Karma Points.

Our Memorial Day Fisticuffs maintenance day was an excellent way to spend the morning. Around 15 volunteers and board members showed up today to help support the BLTS trim brush, rake, shape, and naturalize the trail additions completed recently as well as the upper section to prepare it for the race this Thursday PM!

Thanks to everyone who lent a hand today and continues to invest their time in our local network. We understand there are many opportunities and different activities to choose from in our beautiful city, and your help is always appreciated.

If you intend to race this week after work, be sure to go to the GRRR website and sign up before the deadline!

Another successful trail day doing finish work with a great crew of people from AACT.

The old Lower Bobsled has been updated to have better sight lines, more effective drainage, and reduced erosion. Below that, the next section of trail has been hand worked for your enjoyment! It is a bit soft, so take that into consideration on your first go.

Thanks to everyone for your help today! The BLTS doesn't get this stuff done without you. Trails don't build themselves.

Had an Army of eight along with Christina Thayer the County Trail Coordinator out at Hidden Valley Park to decommission some user created trail. Do some basic trail maintenance and reroute drainage routes of the trails. It was a corporate trails day with folks from Generac using their community service time. BLTS used their mini excavator to make easier decommissioning and drainage reroute. It was a beautiful day and we got along done. Thanks to Generac for their community support.

⚒️⛏️ BLTS Trail Day 5/25 ⛏️⚒️

The BLTS will be out on Memorial Day, Monday 5/25, to conduct both finish work and naturalization of the recent work completed on Fisticuffs as well as rake and clean the trail prior to Race #2.

We will be working from 8-11am, meeting at Keystone East Trailhead. If you can join in on the fun, please text DJ @ 775-722-4356 to RSVP.

Please be sure to wear pants, long sleeves, and bring gloves and your bike helmet to wear during trail work. While we're starting early to beat the heat, bringing water and food is always a good idea!

We hope to see you there!
