We were so glad to welcome students and families as they move into the residence halls with Residential Life, Housing and Food Service at UNR! 🏠🎓

Move-in days are such a special and exciting time as students take this next step in their University of Nevada, Reno journey. We were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer, help families get settled, and be part of all the excitement.

And yes… we only managed to get one picture because we were WAY too busy helping! 😂📸 Sometimes the best moments are the ones you’re too busy living to photograph. 💙

The Latino Research Center was glad to join fellow community leaders in exploring data outcomes. These conversations are essential for advancing opportunities for women and families throughout Nevada.

We thank Washoe County School District, Doral Academy of Northern Nevada and University of Nevada, Reno, Government and Community Engagement for including us in welcoming back students for the start of the 2026-2027 School Year. We thank the The Discovery for inviting the Latino Research Center at UNR to connect with community members during a preview of their new exhibits, Forces of Nature! The hands-on displays provide important reminders of the impacts of natural disasters in Nevada and in the whole nation.

CBESS - Community of Bilingual English-Spanish Speakers had a great time with their Summer Research Institute. From visits to the Desert Farm Initiative and Community Health Alliance to classroom and hands on activities such as DNA extraction, it was truly a summer of learning while having fun! We also thank President Brian Sandoval for taking time out of his day to speak with our current cohort of student researchers. It meant a lot for all involved to hear from him.

This summer, our CBESS program hosted 31 high school students for our research program from July 5-24. The program combines residential campus experiences with virtual research preparation, giving students opportunities to build academic and research skills while connecting with university resources as they strengthen their bilingualism skills toward STEM and health pathways.

During the program, students spent one week staying in Argenta Hall and participated in STEM and health-related workshops, hands-on laboratory experiences and activities designed to support their career aspirations.
