🚨 Huge Win for the Nevada National Guard! 🇺🇸
Governor vetoes AB397 — a move that protects the Nevada National Guard Tuition Waiver and ensures continued access to affordable education for our service members. Big thanks to ASM Ken Gray for listening to the Associations Enlisted and Officers on this issue. Huge thanks to our Senior Leaders Enlisted and Officers for working with us to resolve this issue. Thanks to all the members that answered the call and let the Governor know this was a bad bill for the NVNG and their families.
This is a big victory for the men and women of the NVNG, who serve our state with pride and commitment. Educational benefits like the tuition waiver are crucial tools for recruitment, retention, and long-term success of our Guard members.
📚🎖️ Education is readiness. This win secures both.
People always ask what does the associations do for me, this is what we do, we protect your benefits.

🚨 Urgent Action Needed on AB397! 🚨

NVEANGUS, we need your help NOW—time is running out! AB397 is about to be signed into law, and we need to act quickly.

The bill, as it currently stands, could have a major impact on the funding for room and board for many service members and veterans. It includes Federal Education Benefits like the GI Bill, which is used by many to help pay for their classes, scholarships, grants, and room and board.

If this bill passes without changes, it could affect your ability to use those funds for room and board.

What can you do?
📞 Contact the NV Governor TODAY and urge them to modify the verbiage in the bill to exclude the GI Bill from Federal Education Benefits. https://gov.nv.gov/Forms/Share/

There are only a few days left before this bill could be signed into law, so your voice is critical right now.

📩 Let's stand together to protect our rights and funding! We can make a difference. Reach out NOW! https://gov.nv.gov/Forms/Share/

The Legacy of Irish Americans in the U.S. Military

Irish Americans have played a pivotal role in shaping the history and strength of the U.S. military. From the earliest days of the nation to modern conflicts, their contributions have been both significant and enduring.

Revolutionary Beginnings: During the American Revolution, Irish immigrants made up a substantial portion of the Continental Army. Their support extended beyond the battlefield, with Irish fundraisers and soldiers earning George Washington's admiration. In fact, Washington joined the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, recognizing their vital contributions.

The Civil War: Irish Americans were prominent on both sides of the Civil War, with many forming their own units that embraced Irish customs and traditions. The "Fighting 69th," a regiment of the New York National Guard, became legendary for its bravery and remains a symbol of Irish heritage in the military.

Medal of Honor Recipients: Irish Americans have received more Medals of Honor than any other ethnic group, highlighting their extraordinary valor and dedication. This includes Irish-born soldiers who served with distinction in various conflicts.

Cultural Impact: Beyond their military achievements, Irish Americans have brought their rich cultural heritage to the armed forces. Traditions like the use of shillelaghs as ceremonial symbols and the participation of Irish Wolfhounds as mascots in parades reflect their enduring influence.

The contributions of Irish Americans to the U.S. military are a testament to their resilience, courage, and commitment to their adopted homeland. Their legacy continues to inspire and shape the armed forces today.

🌟 On This Day in Military History: March 16 🌟

Today marks significant moments in military and global history. Here's a glance at what happened:

1802: The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, was officially established. This historic institution continues to produce some of the finest military leaders. Additionally, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was re-established to support military and civil engineering efforts.

1862: The Battle of Pound Gap in Kentucky saw the Confederates retreat in a series of confrontations during the American Civil War.

1945: The Allies secured Iwo Jima after a grueling and pivotal campaign in World War II. This marked a critical step toward the end of the war in the Pacific.

1955: President Eisenhower defended the potential use of atomic weapons during wartime, highlighting the ongoing tension of the Cold War era.

1985: Associated Press correspondent Terry Anderson was taken hostage in Beirut, drawing attention to the risks journalists face in conflict zones.

These moments remind us of the resilience, challenges, and sacrifices made throughout history. Let us honor those who served and reflect on the lessons from the past
