The Builders Association of Northern Nevada (BANN) is seeking young adults 16 -18 years of age who are interested in participating in an innovative group mentoring program to help you achieve your goals. The BANN C-CORE program will expose you to diverse and interesting careers in the home building industry. It takes more than the construction trades to build a home in today’s marketplace. Bankers
, appraisers, real estate agents, interior designers, project managers, safety officers, architects, and civil engineers – are just a few examples of professions that are also found in the home building industry. In addition to learning about the varied career pathways in the home building industry, C-CORE participants will continue to build on their personal portfolios by making new connections with business and community leaders, earning references that will be helpful college applications or job applications, learning new skills, and enjoying real life experiences. C-CORE Coaches encourage and motivate participants to achieve their goals. C-CORE participants volunteer their time on various community service projects. Looking to make a difference in the life of a teen? With just about an hour a week you can share your expertise with young people and help coach them toward growth, advanced training and employment. Kids who meet regularly with a mentor are:
• 52 percent less likely to skip a day of school
• 46 percent less likely to start using drugs
• 27 percent less likely to start drinking
• More trusting of their parents or guardians
