Join us for a summer fundraiser concert next Wednesday July 16, 6 pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, part of Reno's Artown festival. For the first half of the concert, local legend Squeek Steele (apologies for the typo in the Artown publicity) will accompany the silent film The Wooden Wedding. The second half will feature students of NNMTA teachers who have also written testimonials about how NNMTA has helped their musical studies!

NNMTA is honored to host Dr. Amanda Gessler for a continuing education session and as an adjudicator for our Young Artist Medal event next week. Please attend her continuing education presentation at the Steinway Gallery next Friday May 2 at 10 am. She will also perform a piano recital at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral the same day at 6 pm, featuring works by Debussy and the first movement of Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto accompanied by Bryan Chuan on organ.

Amanda Gessler is known for her deeply insightful and emotionally charged performances across the United States and Europe. As a First Prize Winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano competition, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2014. She embraces a broad repertoire and enjoys a special connection with the music of Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms.

​She was first noticed as a prizewinner in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition at age sixteen and received a full scholarship to study at the Interlochen Summer Arts Academy. She has since traveled widely and given performances at the Aspen Music Festival, the Duxbury Festival in Massachusetts, the Institute for European Studies in Vienna and the Wilhelm Kempff Foundation Beethoven Course in Positano, Italy. She is a laureate of the MTNA Steinway Young Artist Competition and her performances have been broadcast on Colorado Public radio and on Irish National Television in the documentary film "Beethoven Bootcamp”.

Community Organ Performance and Demonstration:

Sierra Kids Before and After school program is sponsoring a free kid-friendly organ performance and demonstration during WCSD Spring Break! Come hear Northern Nevada's finest pipe organ at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (200 Island Avenue), Tuesday March 25, 12 pm. NNMTA President Bryan Chuan play fun and flashy pieces, and Reno's organ guru Howard Bennett will give a hands-on demonstration of organ pipes. If your piano students need some musical inspiration during spring break, this even will be perfect for them! The event is free and should last about 45 minutes.
