1971: National Area Health Education (AHEC) Program begins
1986: Nevada AHEC begins in Elko, NV
2002: High Sierra AHEC gains its roots in Reno, NV. Since then, we have made it our mission to seek out the gaps and connect students to careers, professionals to communities, and communities to better health. We are a small but mighty nonprofit with volunteers worth their weight in gold and invaluable community partnerships.

This achievement reflects the creativity, collaboration, and dedication of our entire team. High Sierra AHEC was honored to participate in Turner Construction’s Founders Week, celebrating a new partnership rooted in community impact!🤝✨

Together, we assembled 250 care packages for cancer patients receiving treatment at Barton and Renown hospitals, offering comfort and support to those navigating their cancer journey.🎗️

Thank you to Nevada Women’s Fund for hosting this meaningful event and to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make a tangible difference in the lives of Northern Nevada residents. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside community partners who share a commitment to compassion, connection, and care.💙
