Reno Gleaning Project RGP promotes care and conservation of food producing trees. You grow. We pick. Got Fruit? Get help! Volunteers provide service upon request.

Service is offered on a first call first served basis. Sometimes there is a wait and service usually ends with consecutive freezes in the fall.

The Patagonians (wonderful local Patagonia employees) arrived bright and early today to pick 90 perfect pounds of ripe Golden Delicious apples and 90 pounds of imperfect apples for processing and compost from Rodley and Doug's tree. Pickers also enjoyed home baked biscuits courtesy of KT Grace Foundation, and yard to table preserves from gleans passed. The 90 pounds fruit perfection was donated to Community Health Alliance for their Farmacy program that promotes health food prescriptions instead of drugs.❤️🙏🏼 Gratitude to all involved!

John and Maryanne spent a few satisfying hours picking apples this week. John said, "This is my third year picking Jeff's apple trees, they're beautiful trees and produce some delicious apples!" The fruit was donated to the Summit Lake Pauite Tribe's food pantry for all to enjoy. Thanks to our RGP growers and pickers--we appreciate your hard work and dedication to reducing food waste and making delicious and nutritious food available!

Great group pick! Future community leaders from the Pennington Keystone Leadership Team showed the way by helping Michonne and Kevin get 200 perfect pounds of their fruit to Boys and Girls Club kids, while simultaneously deterring the bears that have been driving the homeowners dogs crazy. It's a tough year for wildlife due to our drought! Thanks Pennington Keystone Club for your leadership in food salvation!🙏🏼❤️

The UNR Honors College student government ladies had a fun team building event picking giant Golden Delicious apples on Horace C's 4 perfect trees. They stripped the giant yellow orbs off with brilliant efficiency and left it clean. Over 500 pounds of fruit were removed in total with 200 pounds of perfect pieces split between the Veterans Guest House and UNR Pack Provisions. Thanks to the growers and pickers for this amazing group effort!

Jennifer H picked 25 pounds of fruit from Wynn and Lew's pear tree. This year's yield was small but delicious, and was donated to the Buddhist Center of Reno (Plumas.) Many thanks to Wynn and Lew for continuing to have the RGP back year after year and for their generous donations to our community!

Michael and Olivia joined Pamela and students from the Coral Academy (about 15 pickers in all) to pick, sort, and donate 100 pounds of pears from Roy M's trees. In the process, everyone learned a lot about fruit picking basics, and why this year's fruit has been less fruitful (see what we did there???) than others.

The pears were donated to Eddy House to be enjoyed by their clients. Many thanks to the pear grower and enthusiastic fruit harvesters!

It’s apple-picking season! 🍎 On Monday, the Rotary Club of Reno Midtown joined the Reno Gleaning Project to harvest apples for donation to Community Health Alliance’s FARMacy.

We had so much fun learning about the project, picking fruit, and giving back to our community! 🍏❤️
