Hola tangueros!
We are very happy to have welcomed Zoe and Bella with such a great turn out at the Local Beer Works new practica in Reno! These two fun, smart and surely energetic sisters have landed in the Biggest Little City for good and we are all very excited about new things happening in town. Hurray!!!
From now on, we will be keeping you posted about their events and other close-by tango events that look very appealing, so that our community can continue growing and expanding in new directions. Also, on our monthly newsletter (sent periodically every first week of each month) we will include the latest news from Buenos Aires, since the Reno Tango Collective has now officially found its two solid feet: one in Reno and one in Buenos Aires...what else can we ask for?
RENO
Every Thursday at 7 pm you are welcome to join the new Argentine Tango Practica at Local Beer Works (955 S. Virginia st.), free of charge and for all levels. This is a great opportunity to experiment, learn and have fun! Our beloved Fredy will be there as much as he can to delight you with his music as well as his dance.
Take note! There will be NO PRACTICA on the following week (Thursday April the 11th) but the activity will resume the week right after that.
CLOSE BY TANGO EVENTS
June 6 to 7 Tree City Tango in Boise, Idaho. Beautiful venues in a location known to be the haven for outdoors enthusiasts. Alex Krebs from Portland amongst others will be there!
June 13 to 16 the well known by our community Burning Tango a simple, friendly and affordable event also fro outdoors lovers who want to experience the charming small town feeling on a gorgeous dance floor (McCloud Ballroom) nearby!
July 4 to 7 Tangamente in San Francisco. I mean...just watching Majo Martirena dance...oh my god! Also, we highly recommend taking every possible lesson with Rocio Lequio and Bruno Tombari. They are on our top list of young and innovative tango dancers, plus their teaching is as fun as exceptional!!! The things you will learn will them will stay with you for forever since they do small and easy exercises with which you can create and play around endlessly!
BUENOS AIRES
March was a shaky month here with the legendary milonguero Chino Perico passing away and also hearing the news about Ignacio Ondart'z stroke. On top of that, dengue is hitting our city and we are all being as cautious as possible. Despite all of this, porteรฑos keep on living, gathering and dancing (yes, resilience is our middle name) and we from the Reno Tango Collective are covering the events of our beloved Orchestra La Creciente. Last month we were in this outstanding event in one of the oldest buildings of the city, and next week we will be with La Creciente at Biblioteca Madero, San Fernando, covering their first milonga of the year! We will definitely keep you posted on that one as well. We are starting April with our right foot!
We also wanted to thank Zack and Victoria for being the cornerstone of tango in Reno and supporting Zoe and Bella in their initiative. It is wonderful that in the Biggest Little City we can find room for each other and learn from everyone, being graceful and appreciative of each other's hard work!
Well, that's all for the month of March/April. Please let us know if you would like more information about any of these events. We are always curious and opened about the needs of our community and want to work as a bridge between places, events and people so that we can share and grow together.
If anyone needs advice about anything Buenos Aires, please know that the Reno Tango Collective now has a base in the city and we are opened to help you out navigate your own journey!
With love,
The Reno Tango Collective.
