Therapy Dog Spotlight: Abbott and Shaylie 🐾

Abbott and his handler met Shaylie in the hospital, and the two formed an instant bond. They even have matching birthday hats! When Abbott’s handler got her hands on a “mini Abbott” stuffed animal, she knew she had to get one to Shaylie right away, even though Shaylie was no longer a patient at Renown Children's Hospital.

When Shaylie received her very own Abbott stuffie, she was overjoyed and immediately fell in love with how soft it was. Moments like this are a perfect example of the extra mile our pet therapy handlers and their dogs go to make every patient and past patient feel seen, remembered and special.

We are so thankful for a program that creates moments of comfort and connection like this one. The support of our community helps make programs like pet therapy possible and allows us to continue creating special moments for kids and families long after they leave the hospital. 💙💛

Why Wednesday | “My true why is my little sister, Zoey.”

Meet Rory, External Co-President for Wolf Pack Miracle Network and one of the incredible student leaders making miracles happen for local kids and families.

“My true why is my little sister, Zoey. When I was 13, I became a big sister and went with my mom to her prenatal appointments. That experience sparked my passion for women’s and children’s healthcare and opened my eyes to how important it is to care for both kids and families.

The hospital can be a scary place, especially for children. Knowing that fundraising helps provide specialized equipment for children’s individual needs while also bringing comfort, fun, and joy during difficult moments is why this work is so meaningful to me. I’m so excited to see what good Wolf Pack Miracle Network continues to do for our community!”

Rory’s story is a reminder that our “why” can begin with someone we love and grow into a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you, Rory, for your leadership and dedication to making miracles happen for local kids and families! 🐺💙

Lazer Media is bringing our community together for the annual Radiothon benefiting Children's Miracle Network and Renown Children's Hospital from Oct. 22–23. Tune in to Radio Lazer 107.7, La Mejor 107.3, Kalor 106.3 and Jammin’ 105.3 as they share stories of local children, families and Renown employees in order to show how our community we can all make a difference, together.

Then join us in person for the Radiothon in-person finale at Reno Public Market on Friday, Oct. 23 from 5–9 p.m. for family-friendly entertainment, music and more!

A huge shoutout to the incredible students at Bishop Manogue! 💚💚💚

During the 2025–2026 school year, these passionate students raised $1,466.06 to support Renown Children's Hospital through their local Dance Marathon program. Their creativity, energy and commitment to helping local kids made a real difference and we are so grateful for everything they accomplished.

With a new school year officially underway, we can’t wait to see what this amazing group does next.

🏃‍♀ Stand for the Kids 5K! 🏃‍♀️

Calling all northern Nevada community members, students and families: join us for the inaugural Stand for the Kids 5K and One-Mile Fun Run/Walk on the University of Nevada, Reno campus Saturday, Oct. 18!

Hosted by the UNR undergraduate Phi Delta Epsilon chapter, this fun community event celebrates 20 years of PhiDE’s partnership with Children's Miracle Network while supporting kids and families at our local CMN hospital, Renown Children's Hospital.

Whether you’re a runner, walker, bringing the whole family, or just looking for a fun way to support local kids, we’d love to have you there! The 5K is $30 with check-in at 7 a.m., and the race starting at 8 a.m., while the One-Mile Fun Run/Walk is $20. Race T-shirts are available while supplies last, and the top 200 5K finishers will receive a finisher medal.
