Good evening, Jag Families,
We hope you can join us for our Better Together Meet & Greet Breakfast on Thursday, August 6, from 8:30–9:30 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher, see classmates, and drop off school supplies before the first day of school.
If you're unable to attend, don't worry! This Tuesday afternoon (8.4), every teacher will post a "Welcome to Our Classroom" message for their students so you can see who your child's teacher is and your family can begin making connections before school starts.
A few important reminders:
Breakfast and lunch are not free at JWood Raw. Please use this link to set up your meal account: www.myschoolbucks.com, and here for https://rocket.washoeschools.net/ information on applying for free and reduced-price meals.
Bus riders:
This school year, Washoe County School District is introducing Züm Transportation, a new transportation platform designed to give families greater visibility into their student's bus ride experience. Through the parent Züm app, called Züm – Student Transportation, families can view bus arrival information, receive notifications about delays or service updates, and receive alerts when their student scans on and off the bus. To get started, families will need to register here: https://www.washoeschools.net/zum. After entering their information, parents/guardians can confirm transportation eligibility and view their student's assigned bus stop. Your child will receive a bus pass that they will scan when getting on and off the bus each day. We highly recommend clipping the bus pass to your student’s backpack. Student information is pulled directly from Infinite Campus, so any updates to addresses or contact information must be made through JWood Raw. Please give us a call at 775 851-5444.
Finally, I would appreciate your partnership on attendance, which makes a tremendous difference. Every day matters. Last year, our chronic absenteeism increased, and we know we can do better together. I've included last year's attendance data by grade level. Remember, a student is considered chronically absent when he/she misses 10% or more of the school year (18 or more days). Let's start the year with strong habits by making school attendance a priority from day one.
