The Northern Nevada LGBTQ Leadership Alliance (NALA) brings the leaders of Northern Nevada’s LGBTQ and allied organizations and groups together in solidarity to promote and foster greater collaboration, cooperation, coordination, and communication among all as we work independently and together toward increased awareness, acceptance, equality and freedom for our community.

There can be no reasonable explanation for the cruel and harmful decision to shutter the feature for LGBTQ+ youth to access direct support by using the Option 3 function of the 988 su***de and crisis hotline. This is truly an incomprehensible, politically motivated action on the part of the Trump administration to needlessly take away a crucial resource for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis, which is indefensible.

It is important to know that LGBTQ+ youth can still call 988, but in 30 days they will no longer have the option to use the dedicated service.

A part of the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline dedicated to LGBTQ+ youth — known as 988 option 3 — will close in July, the agency said.
