SERVING THOSE WHO SERVE. ❤️‍🔥

As fires once again impact our region, I want to take a moment on behalf of the Nevada Peer Support Network to recognize the incredible peer volunteers who continue to step forward for the people standing on the front lines.

Firefighters. EMS. Law enforcement. Dispatchers. Healthcare teams. Emergency managers. Volunteers. Families.

Behind every incident map, every evacuation zone, and every long operational period are human beings carrying the physical and emotional weight of protecting our communities.

And behind many of them are peers quietly doing what peer support does best:

Showing up. Listening. Checking in. Staying connected.

Our community continues to demonstrate what peer support can look like on a grand scale. It isn’t always a formal intervention or a scheduled conversation. Sometimes it’s a bottle of water, a meal, a quiet place to sit, a text after shift, or simply asking:

“Hey… how are you really doing?”

To our Nevada Peer Support Network volunteers — thank you for giving your time, your hearts, and your lived experience to serve those who serve.

And to everyone working these incidents: we see you, we appreciate you, and you don’t have to carry the weight alone.

Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to his family and the Las Vegas Metro Police brothers and sisters.

The Reno Police Department stands in mourning with the men and women of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department following the tragic line-of-duty death of one of their officers.

During a press conference outside University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed that an LVMPD officer was fatally wounded after confronting an armed, intoxicated individual. Despite the extraordinary efforts of fellow officers, fire personnel, EMS, physicians, nurses, and hospital staff, the officer succumbed to their injuries.

Law enforcement is a profession built on service and sacrifice. Today’s tragedy is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers officers willingly face every day to protect their communities.

Chief Solferino added, “The loss of an officer reaches far beyond the agency where they served. It pulls at the very heartstrings of the law enforcement profession and reminds all of us of the sacrifices made by those who wear the badge. We must rally around one another, honor our fallen, support those left behind, and never forget the courage demonstrated in service to others.”

The Reno Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the fallen officer’s family, friends, and colleagues. We stand shoulder to shoulder with LVMPD as they mourn this tremendous loss and honor a life dedicated to protecting others.

Incident Support Team was at it again last night providing firefighter rehab for the Cold Springs fire crews. It was the 9th request for our services in the last 2 weeks. Our retired 1st Responders are proud to serve.

💙 A Day to Invest in Those Who Serve Together 💙

In the past 11 months, the Reno Police Department has experienced the heartbreaking loss of three officers. Those losses remind us that behind every badge is a person—and behind every officer is a family carrying the weight of this profession. Northern Nevada C.O.P.S. is honored to bring the nationally recognized How 2 Love Our Cops seminar to Northern Nevada. This FREE training is designed exclusively for law enforcement officers and their spouses/significant others, providing practical tools to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and build resilience through the unique challenges of a crisis-driven career.

❤️ Spouses are strongly encouraged to attend—even if your officer is working or not available to attend (and Vice Versa). This day is for you, too. The support, understanding, and tools you’ll receive can make a lasting difference for your family.
