“There are no established treatments for this cancer."

These devastating words changed our family forever when my son Max was diagnosed with a rare cancer at 22.

I've shared my story in a recent op-ed about the shocking disparity in cancer research funding - and why it matters for all of us. It was an honor to be invited by NIIMBL | The National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals, to speak about our son Max and the critical importance of innovation in the fight against rare cancers like NUT carcinoma.

Innovation turns the impossible into possible. Max's story underscores not just the need for innovative treatments but the life-saving impact they will have.

When Max was diagnosed with NUT carcinoma, we were devastated to find there were no treatments available. However, through our journey, we have found hope and driven our efforts towards supporting groundbreaking research.

Our family's experience has taught us that innovation is more than just an idea; it must be adopted, implemented, and make a positive impact on patients' lives. While incredible advancements have been made in treating common cancers, rare cancers still face significant challenges. Especially in the AYA age group.

Thank you NIIMBL, and to all of the NIIMBL-member companies for your dedication to innovation and for allowing us to share our story of hope. Together, we can make a difference and bring life-saving treatments to those who need them most.

New year, new design!

Each year, we’ll be collaborating with a different artist/designer for a fresh t-shirt for the Max Factor Pale Ale. Last year’s look was designed by Calder Chism, this year’s design is by Max’s fraternity brother and friend, Sam Duhe.

We also got custom growlers with the same logo, etched in glass. To alleviate lines and bottlenecks at the event - we created an Eventbrite site where you can purchase raffle tickets, growlers and tshirts. Be sure to present your receipt at the door and get your goods!
