Love this 👇.
When I was a single mom years ago, I struggled financially. It was challenging, especially if I didn’t get paid on time, an appliance or vehicle needed repaired, a holiday came up or something unexpected happened (and a million other things).
The Pastor at the church I attended at the time would give me an unsigned card with cash inside, saying it came from a member of the church. It was always anonymous. I had my suspicions, but it was never confirmed.
It wasn’t a lot, but for myself and my 2 children, it meant paying the electric bill, buying milk, putting fuel in the car, or even taking the kids out for a special evening for pizza and a movie.
It gave me the hope and inspiration to continue for one more day. Reminded me that everything would be okay, even if felt like it wouldn’t be.
Paying it forward can be powerful. Not only is it kind and generous, it can impact the life of one person in unimaginable ways. Which then also creates a ripple effect in the world.
Have you ever wondered why you enjoy that cup of coffee so much that you received for free when the people in front of you bought you the latte? How did it make you feel? Special. Loved. Seen. Honored. Grateful. Hope in humanity again.
Imagine what a small act of kindness and generosity does for someone struggling financially.
My parents continue the tradition of gifting money to churches and other charities to be distributed to those having a difficult time. Witnessing how much it helped me inspired them to do the same. 🥰.
Me? I donate when I can. Not for the recognition. For the goodness of reminding others they matter. They are loved and that everything will be okay. Sometimes that looks like a card with money to share in a homeless shelter or domestic violence center. Other times it looks like handing out socks to the homeless or a meal for them and their dog. Sometimes it’s simply to create safe space for another struggling with addictions, mental health issues or something else to be witnessed in their pain. It can show up in a variety of ways depending on what Spirit and the Ancestors guide me to do.
Nothing is too big. Nothing is too small.
I guarantee you, even that $20 that doesn’t seem like a lot can be astronomical to another.
Take a moment today and be grateful for what you have. Then share with another, no matter what that may look like. You can be the catalyst for great change. ♥️
