Galena High School Senior Diploma Day June 8th 2020
Good evening Galena Seniors! We are really looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for the Galena Diploma Day event at the school. We have a DJ, your teachers will be there as you drive by, your names will be read aloud, and you will be able to have a professional graduation photograph taken in front of the school on a stage.
You should have received your specific arrival time via email, which means that you must arrive at that time on the West side of the school near the entrance to the 100 hall doors via Grizz Way. All graduates must be on the passenger side of the vehicle. If you did not receive your arrival time, please contact Mrs. Leslie: [email protected].
Please limit family to one car per graduate as we are on an extremely tight schedule from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., with one graduate going through every minute. However, we also are aware that there may be extenuating family circumstances that require more than one vehicle. If this is the case, we do not want students to have to choose between parents or guardians who want to attend, and we will allow two separate vehicles, but they must arrive at the exact same time, one behind the other, at the specified arrival time, and they both may drive through the event with their graduate. Because of the current Social Distancing guidelines, and our District approved plan, only the graduate may exit the vehicle for the photo. Parents and family members are not allowed to exit their vehicles.
Finally, we are going to attempt to record, and perhaps livestream, the Diploma Day event for the Galena High School Instagram page and for the Galena High School Parents page so that people not able to attend may watch the event as well. Thank you. Have a great night. See you all tomorrow.

2020 Seniors and Senior Parents: Diploma Day Event on June 8th, 2020 Approved!

Galena High School has been approved to offer an “individualized” Diploma Day for our Seniors! Please see the attached links for specific instructions and a detailed map.

It is extremely important that the graduate arrives at the scheduled time, so it will be a quick, convenient, and fun event. We are working on “livestreaming” the event on two separate social media platforms, for which we will send out further information. A Lifetouch photographer will be present, and students will be able to exit the vehicle for a photo opportunity with the Principal.

Please note the following guidelines for the Diploma Day Event on June 8th:

• Graduate allowed one vehicle only

• Graduate wears Cap and Gown

• Graduate arrives at specific time on schedule

• Graduate brings Diploma Cover

• Graduate is sitting on passenger side of car

Diploma Day schedule times for students to arrive will be sent directly to students via their school Microsoft email account on Monday, June 1st. If students don’t receive their email with their time, please contact Dana Leslie- [email protected]

Es extremadamente importante que el graduado llegue a la hora programada, por lo que será un evento rápido, conveniente y divertido. Estamos trabajando para "transmitir en vivo" el evento en dos plataformas de redes sociales separadas, para lo cual enviaremos más información. Un fotógrafo de Lifetouch estará presente, y los estudiantes podrán salir del vehículo para tomar una foto con el director.

Tenga en cuenta las siguientes pautas para el evento del Día del Diploma el 8 de junio:

Don’t forget that picture/video submissions are due by Friday for the broadcast Graduation Ceremony! If you do not submit anything then your yearbook picture will be used. HEADS UP - those yearbook pictures are already being used in the Senior Slideshow that is already a part of this Ceremony so that picture will be featured TWICE! Please take the time to submit your picture/video today or tomorrow so that we can put out the BEST Graduation Video ever for our Seniors!💛🖤💛

Happy Friday Class of 2020!
Please get your picture/video submitted for the pre-recorder broadcast ceremony🖤💛. This is your chance to be featured in your cap/gown and get creative - make it your own! Galena admin and staff have been working very hard to make this memorable and can’t wait to see what you all come up with. Here is the link to upload and a sample video to get those creative juices flowing.

For all our Galena High School students: June 2nd-5th will be “Collection and Redistribution Days” at Galena High School. Please review the attached schedule for dates and times that students and families may come and drop off school property and pick-up student property and pay outstanding...

We had a great turn out for Tuesday’s Cap, Gown, and Diploma Cover pick up! Thank you for attending and following the Social Distancing Guidelines.

To reiterate from last week’s update: The broadcast content for the Graduation Ceremony is being created by our Galena High School Seniors.

1. Senior students may submit one of two recognition options for inclusion in the broadcast Graduation Ceremony by May 29th:

a. A photograph of themselves in their graduation regalia, or

b. a 5 second video of themselves, in their graduation regalia.

All photos and videos are subject to school district graduation ceremony guidelines and if an inappropriate photo or video is sent to us, the student may not be included in the graduation broadcast. If no photo or video is submitted by a graduating Senior, the yearbook photo will be inserted into the broadcast. All graduating students will be recognized in some way in the broadcast: If a family needs help with submitting a photo or video, please contact Dana Leslie at [email protected]

Additionally, 2020 Seniors and Senior Parents: Please save the date of June 8th, 2020 9am-4pm. Galena High School will be planning an “individualized” celebration for our Seniors. We have submitted a plan to the District for approval. Details will follow if we receive approval.

Estudiantes de último año: ¡Tuvimos una participación estupenda en la recogida de los birretes, las togas y las cubiertas del diploma ayer! Muchas gracias a todos por asistir y seguir las pautas de distanciamiento social.

Para reiterar de la actualización de la semana pasada: el contenido de transmisión para la Ceremonia de Graduación está siendo creado por nuestros estudiantes de último año de preparatoria de Galena.

1. Los estudiantes mayores pueden entregar una de las dos opciones de reconocimiento para su inclusión en la Ceremonia de graduación transmitida antes del 29 de mayo:

a. Una fotografía de sí mismos en su regalia de graduación, o

b. un video de 5 segundos de ellos mismos, en su regalia de graduación.

Todas las fotos y videos están sujetos a las pautas de la ceremonia de graduación del distrito escolar y si nos envían una foto o video inapropiado, el estudiante podría no estar incluido en la transmisión de graduación. Si no se envía una foto o video por un graduado de último año, la foto del anuario se insertará en la transmisión. La Preparatoria de Galena estará planeando una celebración "individualizada" para nuestros estudiantes de último año. Hemos presentado un plan al Distrito para su aprobación. Los detalles seguirán si recibimos la aprobación.
