Vermont banned paraquat. Now California — our neighbor to the west — has effectively ended its use statewide. The momentum is undeniable.

Nevada, it's our turn.

The Parkinson Support Center of Northern Nevada (PSCNN) is actively working with state lawmakers, advocates, and coalition partners to introduce paraquat ban legislation in Nevada's 2027 legislative session. We are building our team right now — and we want YOU involved.

If you are a Nevadan who wants to be part of this effort — whether you're a Parkinson's patient, caregiver, farmer, healthcare professional, or simply someone who cares about protecting our communities — please reach out to us. Protecting Your Brain Starts with the Air You Breathe

A newly published review of more than 40 studies found that long-term exposure to air pollution may increase the risk of developing Parkinson's disease. Researchers say it's another reminder that environmental factors play an important role in brain health. (link in comments)

Here in Northern Nevada, wildfire smoke has become an unfortunate part of summer. While we can't control every environmental exposure, there are simple steps we can take to reduce it:

💙 Check the Air Quality Index (AQI) before spending time outdoors.
💙 Stay indoors when smoke levels are unhealthy.
💙 Use a HEPA air purifier or high-quality HVAC filter when possible.
💙 Wear a well-fitting N95 respirator if you must be outside during heavy smoke.

At PSCNN, we're committed to bringing the latest Parkinson's research to our community—not just to understand the disease, but to learn how we can better protect brain health and improve quality of life.
