The Southampton Town Board has decided that they will no longer offer a remote video conferencing option to their public meetings. I asked why and I got this response from Legislative Aid, Paula Godfrey:

"Hi Bob,
Sundy forwarded your email to this office as it was a Town Board decision to discontinue to use of video conferencing at Public Meetings. As you know, the video conferencing at Public Meetings began during COVID-19 as a safety measure, which allowed the public to weigh in at meetings while remaining safe at home. Now that the pandemic is over, it was decided to go back to in-person meetings. There were some technical issues with the video conferencing, such as sound issues, and sometimes not being able to connect. This caused some frustration with people not having their voices heard at public hearings and public portion. The Board was also asked to have meetings at outside locations such as Flanders and Hampton Bays, and we do not have the technology for that, so in order to hold meetings at other locations, they had to go back to in-person only meetings.
Best regards,
Paula
