Greetings neighbors! It’s been a little less than a year since we posted the last newsletter and what a year it’s been.
Last year there was a small increase in community association membership donations (yay!), and hopefully there will be another increase this year. This was welcomed news and deeply appreciated. Recall that these contributions are used to mow the common areas, make minor improvements or repairs to our signage and to otherwise improve the community. We hope that after reading this newsletter, you might be inspired to contribute, too.
In April, we attempted our first neighborhood clean-up. Although there was not much participation, two SFWHCA Board members along with two incredible SFWHCA neighbors, Diane and Stewart Hirsch, cleared a thick overgrowth of vines covering the trees along the entrance to the neighborhood at Worthington and Timber Knoll Road. We also cleared lots of trash which included bottles, cans, a tire, metal fencing and a large rubber mat. After separating what could be recycled, the rest was transported to the Baltimore County Landfill. The large pile of vines, fallen branches and sticks was removed by one of our landscaping vendors for a small fee. We also photographed several other areas in need of vine removal in the neighborhood. We plan to attack those areas as time allows, but if you would like to start a group to do some clean-up near you – please contact the board and we’ll help!
We would like to hold another VIRTUAL community meeting on October 19 at 7 pm. We will be discussing dues and how to encourage more participation in this area. Options for landscaping improvements and a SFWHCA annual celebration are also on the agenda. The link to the meeting is https://tinyurl.com/sfwhca-oct19 and will also be posted on Nextdoor, our page and will be emailed to all members for whom we have contact information.
Mowing has continued on all of the community common areas. The community pays approximately $7500 for this service at the end of each year to include mowing and w**d control. The president explored other options and after receiving several quotes, we are confident we are receiving the best price at this time.
The board has been meeting regularly to stay on top of the budget and brainstorm for new community-wide events and improvements. We welcome your input and encourage you to attend the upcoming community meeting to make your voice heard! If you are happy with what the board has accomplished this year, please consider making your membership donation today. Any amount is welcome but we humbly suggest a minimum of $10/month ($120/yr) be considered. Home has become more important than ever and the members of the board are committed to making Sagamore Forest/Worthington Hillside the best community possible. We can only do this with your contributions to FY2023’s operating budget. To view a summary budget ledger, go to: https://tinyurl.com/SFWHCA-FY22
If you would like to help us make our neighborhood even more beautiful and special, please use the link or address below to contribute. Looking forward to more good things in 2023. Please make dues payment by December 1, 2022.
Please note, if you are new to the community or have not been receiving email updates from the Board, please email us your name, physical address and email address to [email protected] so we can update our records.
