Troop 8634 Troop 8634 of Scouting America delivers a robust and inclusive scouting experience for girls ages 11-17 in Northwest Baltimore County.

Summer Camp 2026 - Broad Creek Scout Reservation It was insanely hot but the scouts kept their spirits up with theme days, conquering the Mile Swim, working on the canoeing merit badge to prep for High Adventure, building a raft, karaoke, mustaches, and of course, plenty of popsicles.

Three guesses where our most recent camping trip was and the first two don’t count 😆. That’s right, back to the C&O Canal…sort of. We stayed at the Brunswick Family Campground and spent Saturday exploring nearby Catoctin Creek. The scouts rocked cooking: vegetarian mountain man breakfast, pizza bagels for lunch, Dutch oven lasagne for dinner and topped off with brownies. Sunday we rafted the Shenandoah River and returned home tired, slightly sunburnt, and very content. Next up: summer camp!

Back to the C&O canal we went! This time to Green Ridge State Forest where the campsite was on top of a mountain much to the vehicles’ displeasure. Half of the group did a 15-mile bike ride and the other half a 5 mile hike. Gorgeous weather and scenery with our brother troop. Then an afternoon and evening of Mafia, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and Uno. A good time was had by all.

We had our first shakedown trip for Maine High Adventure where things may not have gone completely according to plan but the scouts adapted and overcame the challenges. I’ll put this group of scouts up against anyone! Naomi and Halle did an amazing job as leaders. Ari came in clutch with her exquisite clove hitches and positivity, Amelia made sure everyone knew the truckers hitch to secure the canoes, Zuri and Michelle did amazing with their energy. A capsized canoe, unexpected portaging, and piling three scouts into a 2 person backpacking tent…this weekend had everything. Huge thanks to Ms Terri for planning the logistics, Mr Ryan for providing the heavy lifting, and Ms Robin for being my partner in canoe chaos!

Busy weekend! First we welcomed three new scouts who bridged from Pack 143 - welcome scouts! Then we celebrated with a lock-in with games, snack, and KPop Demon Hunters! Sunday was all about celebrating our newest Eagle Scout Rebekah at her Eagle Court of Honor. It’s a good time to be a Flying Panda!

Service camping trip at Broad Creek Scout Reservation! The scouts rocked it in cold and snowy/muddy conditions. They helped with invasive species removal where Naomi emerged victorious in her battle with the highlighter tree and everyone fought off thorns of every length. They have expanded their culinary reach, making udon noodles in broth for lunch and tortellini soup for dinner. The afternoon was lower key, they worked on the plans for the orienteering course in a couple of weeks, cooking requirements, axe yard, camping requirements, and fire building all with incredible scout spirit. Ms Terri made a delicious peach cake for dessert - we all ate really well. These scouts are something special indeed.

The troop celebrated Scout Sunday/Shabbat on February 6 and 8. Some at our CO, some at their home places of worship. Then we enjoyed some fellowship with the parishioners of our CO. Thank you all for showing that a Scout is Reverent!
