Reinbeck 4-H This is the PUBLIC page of Reinbeck, Iowa’s two 4-H clubs, the Reinbeck Clover Kids (K-3) and the Blackhawk Nighthawks (4-12). 4-H is open to all youth!

We spent a little time after our meeting on Sunday cleaning up the Bill Davis Park! We took a full truckload of leaves and sticks to the compost pile and learned that many hands make light work! It was wonderful to see the kids supporting their community! 🍀💚

Check out this new statewide 4-H club for youth in grades 4th-12th!

🎣 Exciting news for Iowa's young anglers! The Iowa 4-H Fishing Club is launching statewide, offering youth in grades 4-12 the opportunity to dive into the world of fishing. 🐟

This club focuses on Iowa's aquatic ecosystems, improving fishing techniques, and promoting environmental stewardship. Through hands-on activities, webinars, and tournaments, members gain skills in fishing, fish identification, lure tying, water safety, and more, all while connecting with Iowa’s natural beauty.

🍀 Enrolling in the Iowa 4-H Fishing Club is a two-step process:
1. 4-H Online Enrollment: Participants must first enroll as a 4-H member in 4-H Online (https://v2.4honline.com/) in the “Statewide Fishing Club.” (There is one listed in each county.) County staff will then approve enrollment.
2. Event Registration: Once approved, participants must enroll in the event "Iowa 4-H Fishing Club."

At today’s Blackhawk Nighthawk meeting, we started off by learning about setting a table and table manners with Janet Schildroth. After she taught our group we practiced by setting our tables and having a yogurt snack. Later in the meeting Elijah gave a presentation about growing a giant pumpkin, and the different process’ that go into growing a pumpkin🎃. Kennedy and Brinn gave a presentation about their experience down at the girls basketball state tournament🏀. They brought some of the medals, and other things that they received at the tournament!🍀

We sure appreciated Mrs. Rowe and Doug spending time teaching us how to sew a button at yesterday’s meeting! This is definitely a skill we will need to practice, but it was a great first lesson! If you have a needle and thread at home, ask them to help the next time you need to sew one on and see what they remember.

Our meeting portion was brief, so please read the notes your child brought home and the county newsletter for information about the omelet breakfast! The Sign Up Genius is in the county newsletter for omelet breakfast items.

Keep track of your omelet ticket packet and reach out to Jessie or Justina if you need more tickets! We will ask for the packets back at a later date.

Need something to do over the Holiday Break?

All 4-H and FFA members in grades 4-12 (no Clover Kids) MUST be YQCA certified by June 15, 2025 if you're planning to show swine, sheep, beef, goats, dairy cattle/goats, poultry, or rabbits. 🐷🐏🐄🐐🐇🐔 This isn’t just a requirement—it’s a key step to being a top exhibitor at both County and State Fair! Let’s check this off your list!
