A handful of our staff, Board and Committee members attended the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce She Means Business event. We are energized after connecting with so many inspiring leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are redefining what’s possible. From powerful conversations to meaningful networking, every moment reinforced the impact of supporting and elevating women in business.

We’re proud to be part of a movement that champions leadership, confidence, and opportunity for women everywhere. Here’s to continuing the momentum, uplifting one another, and leading with purpose.

Workshop Opportunity! What funders want from a Former Funder. May 28, 12 - 1:30pm.

The funding landscape for nonprofits is tough right now. If you're working in criminal justice reform or advocacy, we know you're feeling it. Funders are shifting priorities, budgets are tight, and it's hard to know where to focus your limited time and development resources.

In this workshop, we will pull back the curtain on how funders decide what to fund, and how you can apply that to your development strategy. Come learn what's worth your time, what funders respond to, and how to sharpen what you're already doing so it lands.

You'll walk away with practical tools to:

Sharpen your organizational story, message, and pitch
Build and strengthen funder relationships
Tailor your message to different donor audiences
Create compelling, donor-ready collateral
Workshop Presenter

Adriana Dolgetta Cosgriff is the founder and CEO of Capacita consulting. She leads a team of experts who help build strategy and operations capacity for nonprofits around the United States. She is an attorney who has been working in justice reform since 2010, and her team is proud to work with orgs across the reform movement in the U.S. She also served as a federal funder at the United States Department of State for 11 years, responsible for over $350M in federal grants, contracts, and interagency agreements.

Presented by the RootED Capacity Project

The Rooted Capacity Project is a collaboration between Root Cause Collective, Capacita, and the Ayni Institute, brought together by Just Impact Advisors, to strengthen the Criminal Justice Reform ecosystem at three critical levels:

Leaders — to navigate personal and professional transitions
Organizations — to stabilize operations, management, finances, and strategic direction
Movements — to cultivate long-term strategy and build momentum for what's next

Sharing an opportunity for learning from our friends at Capacita Consulting (April 13th on Zoom):

Red Flags, Beige Flags, and Everything In Between: The Nonprofit Operational Survival Guide
Monday April 13th from 1-3pm Eastern Time on Zoom

Description:
Leading a nonprofit means you are constantly balancing your mission, your people, and internal and external risks, often without a clear roadmap for what truly needs your attention. Goodness knows you all have more than enough to do, and rarely enough resources to do it all.

This session breaks down the spectrum of operational and legal issues into “red flags” (urgent risks that need immediate action), “beige flags” (early warning signs of deeper challenges), and essential best practices that strengthen your organization over time. This workshop offers a practical framework to help you prioritize what matters most, and what can wait. You’ll leave with a simple, actionable checklist you can use to guide conversations with legal counsel or as a starting point for engaging one.

You’ll walk away with:
1. A clear understanding of the most common legal and operational red flags, and how to spot them early
2. A practical framework for prioritizing “beige flag” issues before they become urgent problems
3. A starter checklist to guide internal review and productive conversations with legal counsel (or to help you determine when it’s time to bring one on)
