Please do not bring a pet into a home if they are not in the position to give it the proper care and love. Drive 4 Shelter is a small, non-profit sanctuary that consists of two sisters and a desire to help the hopeless. Rescue, rehab, rehome is the ideal outcome for anyone involved in assisting the homeless, but there is a vast population of displaced souls who require special, long term care. In
today's world, it's difficult enough to find placement for young, healthy pets, let alone those with various challenges. We currently assist permanent residents who are blind, deaf, wheel chair dependant, heart failure/heart murmur patients, cancer survivors, terminal cancer cases, neglect/trauma, kidney failure, tumour, incontenence and senior care. After numerous years devoted to rescue, we had hoped to see far stronger strides in personal responsibility when it comes to the unwanted pet population. Our biggest regret is not being able to house and help more. The sad truth remains; we can not adopt our way out of this expansive crisis. The responsibility ultimately belongs to all of us to practice prevention rather than to attempt repair. Spay and neuter is imperative. Domestic pet care does not receive the attention it deserves and this unfortunate truth weighs heavy on those who devote a great deal of time and effort to the cause. It's inevitably a community issue; a people problem and good people refuse to give up the fight. Your kind support will assist with supplies for care and vet costs for our residents and for this we THANK YOU. Drive 4 Shelter is a division of APSRC, a responsible and respected 501c3.
