What does belonging look like?

It looks like walking into a room and being greeted by name.

It looks like friendships built over shared experiences, laughter that fills a room, and having a place where you are genuinely missed when you’re not there.

It looks like being included, encouraged, celebrated, and valued for exactly who you are.

For our heroes, opportunities for meaningful connection and community aren’t always easy to find. But the need to belong doesn’t change with age.

At Mount Jubilee Ministries, we believe everyone deserves a place where they are known, where friendships flourish, and where every individual has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

Belonging isn’t just about having somewhere to go. It’s about having somewhere you matter.

Fair food, fun, and plenty of smiles!

Last week, our HIS Path Heroes enjoyed a field trip to the Carolina Classic Fair! From the sights and sounds to the delicious treats, it was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and memories made together.

At Mount Jubilee Ministries, we believe meaningful experiences happen both inside and outside our program walls. Community outings like these provide opportunities for friendship, connection, and simply enjoying all that life has to offer.

And judging by those smiles, we’d say this trip was a success!

Hero spotlight! 🌟

Kirk loves being part of His Path and spending time with his friends. He enjoys the sense of community, teamwork, and interdependence, and he takes pride in building meaningful friendships. Kirk is outgoing, loves helping others, and enjoys staying active.

For the past 18 years, Kirk has worked as a greeter at the YMCA. He hopes to become a personal trainer and lead group exercise one day. Fitness is one of his passions, and he especially enjoys being active at His Path.

Outside of His Path, Kirk loves the beach and the mountains. He enjoys bowling, swimming, and spending time with friends and family. Christmas is his favorite holiday, and he is excited to create more Christmas cards at His Path!

One of Kirk’s favorite Bible verses is 1 Thessalonians 5:11. If he could change one thing in the world, he would want everyone to know the truth about God.

We’re out at the Reidsville Chamber Everything Expo today!

We love opportunities like this to connect with local businesses, community leaders, and friends and to share more about the work happening every day at Mount Jubilee Ministries.

Community matters. Relationships matter. And we’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another.

If you’re at the Expo today, stop by and say hello!

Reidsville His Path was able to be a part of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training with Vaya Health on Thursday, October 1st. CIT is a 40 hour training program in which first responders receive continuing education hours but most importantly, they learn ways in supporting and engaging individuals with I/DD and mental health concerns during a crisis.
Thirteen first responders attended a session where they received valuable training along with spending time with our heroes. During the time with the heroes, many of our Reidsville participants shared some things about themselves including times that might make them anxious and what helps calm them in those instances. We also all joined in an activity by putting together Blessing Bags containing some sensory items and fun activities. The first responders were able to take the bags with them in hopes of giving those items to someone, on a scene where they could be helpful and enjoyed. And, of course, our heroes had made cards with a great message of appreciation to give each of the first responders before they left for the day.

Thanks to Vaya Health for letting us be part of this day and the training that impacts our friends!

Community impact starts with listening.

This week, Executive Director, Jessie Meador and Cecil Cottrell represented Mount Jubilee Ministries at a two-day Public Innovators Lab: Getting Started with The Harwood Institute.

The Lab brings together community leaders to learn a different approach to creating lasting change, one that begins by “Turning Outward,” listening closely to the people we serve, understanding what matters most to a community, and turning that knowledge into intentional action.

For Jessie and Cecil, this work connects deeply with what we believe at Mount Jubilee: strong communities are built through relationships, listening, collaboration, and making sure every person has a place and a voice.

Over two days, they worked alongside other local leaders to explore how change happens, how to better understand a community’s shared aspirations and concerns, and how organizations can show up more intentionally in the communities they serve.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that challenge us to keep learning, keep listening, and keep asking how we can better serve our Heroes, their families, and the communities we call home.

More than a day program. 💙

Yes, our Heroes have a place to go during the day.

But HIS Path is so much more than that.

It’s learning how to prepare a meal.
Building confidence in the community.
Practicing skills that lead to greater independence.
Creating friendships.
Serving others.
Discovering strengths.
Having responsibilities.
Being known, valued, and included.

Sometimes, it’s laughing with your friends until your stomach hurts.

At Mount Jubilee Ministries, we aren’t simply filling the hours in a day. We’re creating opportunities to learn, grow, contribute, build relationships, and live lives of purpose.

Every Hero deserves more than somewhere to go. They deserve a place to belong.
