Rockingham County Arts council (RCAC) works to provide a vibrant creative economy and improve the quality of life for all people in our community by supporting an enriching cultural arts in Rockingham County. As the designated county partner for NC Arts, RCAC provides annual Grassroots Arts Grants to nonprofit organizations. These grants support local art organizations, fund quality art residency

programs for youth, adults with developmental disabilities, the elderly, and others. Through additional local support, RCAC is working to provide quality arts programs and residencies that help support local artists and performers by providing opportunities for exhibition, participate and employment. With your support, our efforts serve as a catalyst for sustainable development leading to programs that connect diverse parts of our county through shared art experiences. A major new piece of public art is coming to Mayodan thanks to support from ! The Rockingham County Arts Council is teaming up with the Town of Mayodan, Madison Mayodan Recreation Department, and Visit Rockingham County to transform the pedestrian tunnel leading to the upcoming Washington Mills Park into a landmark mural. This is a chance to create something bold, memorable, and rooted in place. A piece of art that becomes part of how people experience the park, and part of how Mayodan tells its story. Call for Artists — Washington Mills Tunnel Mural

The Rockingham County Arts Council is looking for a muralist to design and paint a historical mural in the pedestrian tunnel near the Madison-Mayodan Recreation Center as part of transforming it into a welcoming gateway to the future Washington Mills Park and the Mayo River.

We're inviting qualified muralists to submit. To apply, all you need is a portfolio link and a short statement of interest — no proposed design at this stage. A panel will review submissions and select.

Open to all qualified artists; Rockingham County and regional artists are encouraged to apply.

Submissions due August 22, 2026.

Painting begins in October.

The Fine Arts Association of Rockingham County is thrilled to announce our 3rd Annual Watercolors on Washington Art Reception and Sale! This year's event will take place at a new venue, Ashley Latham Photography Studios in beautiful Uptown Eden. As we continue our mission to celebrate local creativity, we invite you to submit your work and showcase your talent alongside others.

If you work with other mediums, we cordially invite you to join our reception in support of your fellow artists. The 3rd annual Watercolors on Washington promises to be a great opportunity to connect and network with other artists while viewing original watercolor pieces that will be available for purchase.

We have kept the submission process simple this year. To enter your work, please send an email to us at [email protected] with a list of titles for your work and a price for each so that we can have everything ready for you.

Please submit these NO LATER THAN July 28th.

We will send another email with details for parking and drop-off in the near future.
