Have you ever heard stories about families gathering pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) and cooking the young leaves to eat?
For generations, “poke sallet” was part of traditional Southern foodways—but pokeweed also contains toxic compounds, and improper preparation can cause serious illness.

Upcoming dates and time for Wild Birds Unlimited. 🐦🌿 Supporting Our Birds, Together

I’m excited to be at Wild Birds Unlimited with several of our native plants from All the Buzz Native Plant Nursery!

I’ll be there to answer questions and have conversations about the important role both high-quality bird food and native plants play in supporting our birds and local wildlife.

Quality bird food provides birds with reliable supplemental nutrition, while native plants help create a natural habitat that provides insects, caterpillars, seeds, berries, shelter, nesting materials, and other resources birds need throughout the seasons.

It’s all connected. 🐦🌿🐛

Whether you’re an experienced bird enthusiast, a gardener looking to add more native plants, or you’re simply curious about how you can make your yard more welcoming to wildlife, come by and ask questions!

I’ll have several native plants with me, and I’d love to help you find plants that can complement the bird-friendly habitat you’re already creating.

Feeding birds and planting native plants are both wonderful ways to support our feathered friends. Together, we can create healthier, more diverse habitats for birds and the wildlife that depend on them. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Wild Birds Unlimited for welcoming All the Buzz Native Plants! 🌿🐦

We truly appreciate the opportunity to share our passion for native plants and how they support birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife throughout the year.

One of the biggest takeaways from the day is that creating great bird habitat is about both native plants and quality bird food. Native plants provide natural seeds, berries, nectar, insects, and shelter, while the high-quality bird seed and supplies from Wild Birds Unlimited help ensure our feathered friends have reliable nutrition when natural food sources are limited, especially during the winter months.

Together, native plants and supplemental bird feeding create healthier habitats and help birds thrive in every season.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and took home native plants to make a difference in their own yards. Every native plant added to the landscape is another step toward restoring biodiversity and supporting the wildlife we all love.
