VFW Post 1916 reedsburg wi We "Honor the Dead by helping the Living".

The purpose of this organization is to increase the popularity of our common interests, which exists for the sole purpose to aid Veterans, their wives, widows and orphans. We shall always remember that we were once Americas fighting forces, dedicated to the principles which keep our Country free, so too are our present Young men and Women who serve today, all around the globe in support of the same principles of Freedom, we so dearly love.

All good things must come to an end, over the last 10 plus years this Face Book site served as a way of sharing happening & events at the Reedsburg VFW. This site was originally created for the sole purpose of raising funds for the building of the Reedsburg Area Veterans Memorial and as time passed it just continued to grow.
Sadly, the current leadership at the VFW has decided it`s no longer serving the community in an appropriate manner. So to all our loyal supporters & friends, we say Thank You & Good Bye. Matthew Ison, creator & administrator of this site.

The return of our quarterly ‘Mess Night’ series to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum on
August 19, 2021, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This event features our popular dinner and lecture, presented by author and Civil War historian David Powell. Mr. Powell will be speaking about Wisconsin soldiers and the impact they had on the battle of Chickamauga.

Two brigade commanders were from Wisconsin, John C. Starkweather of Milwaukee, who was wounded; and the Norwegian Immigrant Hans Heg, who was mortally wounded. Several hard-fighting regiments contributed to the desperate fighting that characterized the battle, often facing heavy odds. This talk will highlight those important contributions to the Union cause at Chickamauga.
