Join our neighbors in Barrett Township for this event. TODAY!

TODAY IS THE DAY!
Please join us at the Cresco Station Museum from 1:00 - 4:00 PM while we celebrate Flag Day. See spinning, quilting, embroidery and stitching, and leather tooling as it was done during the Revolutionary time. Bring the kids! In partnership with the Barrett/Paradise Friendly Library, we'll have lots of old-time games to play, and you can even sign your own copy of the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen. An ice cream truck will be on site, musician Dave Matsinko will be strolling with his guitar, and face painting is also available.
The station museum will be open, as well as the Historical Society's Library and Research Center located across the street. Free hand-held American flags for the first 100 people!
Something for everyone - come early and bring a friend.

The old Bartonsville grist mill, pictured here around 1908, stood at the corner of present-day Route 611 and Rimrock Drive for more than 130 years. Built in 1848 on land owned by John Edinger, the mill passed through several owners over the years, including Rudolph Metzger, Furman Peisher, Peter Slutter, Joseph Metzger, and Frederick Schuh. James Northrup Canfield purchased the property in 1920 and was the last to operate the mill, closing the business in the mid-1940s.

In 1984, owner Keith Pokorny donated the structure to the Millbrook Village Society. The mill was carefully dismantled, with each piece labeled and transported to Millbrook Village in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Beginning in 1991, it was reconstructed on the site of the former Garis family grist mill, which operated from 1832 to 1905. Although the original Garis mill was destroyed by fire in 1922, visitors to Millbrook Village can still experience the history of the area through the Bartonsville mill and other reconstructed buildings.

The Swiftwater War Memorial was the first World War I monument erected in Monroe County. Built by volunteers near the entrance to Swiftwater Labs (now Sanofi), the monument was dedicated in 1921 to the memory of the 24 servicemen of the Swiftwater Valley who "put their country’s need above opportunity, ease and private gain and served with the armed forces in the World War." In 1992, the plaque and cannon were relocated to the site of the Tannersville War Memorial at the intersection of Routes 611 and 715 N.
