Last week, IRLC's Golden-Winged Warbler Habitat at Grand Lake Reserve was surveyed by Spencer Busler with the Thousand Islands Land Trust drone to generate a mapping of the area. Our team was amazed by the technology!

Additionally, Steve Goobic, Stephen Diehl, and John O'Driscoll went boots on the ground clearing trails, despite the heat and a jillion flies! The brush was thick, but Steve G. penetrated the thick walls of dogwood and honeysuckle like a hot razorblade through butter. Unfortunately, a particularly troublesome patch of swallower on the trail leading to the kiosk has not been eradicated (yet!), but we'll handle it in February with the right machinery. Thank you, volunteers!

Water quality affects more than just recreation. Many people in our communities rely on lake water to live their lives - for drinking, cleaning, and bathing. Yet, lake water quality can be impacted by residential waste water disposal systems, the majority of which are likely undermaintained based on Love of the Lakes survey data.
