You could say we're lake lovers! Everything we do -- from stewardship to education -- is for our love of the Indian River Lakes system.

Located on the St. Lawrence River plain in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, the system consists of 18 natural lakes. These lakes range from shallow, highly productive warm water lakes to deep, cold-water ones. The region takes its name from the Indian River, a picturesque mostly slow-moving river that begins as a small stream at Indian River Village and flows almost 100 miles to Black Lake.

Baker Woods Preserve hosted another successful Fall Work Day on Saturday, Oct 3rd! Sincere thanks to the Black River Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club for hosting the event and for their stalwart support. Over 20 ADK and IRLC members joined the BWP Stewardship Team to build, garden, paint and prepare the trails for the winter season. Much was accomplished on a perfect fall day and, importantly, we were able to break bread and share stories following a morning of hard work.
