Our mothers have received their credential so now David's Job Dialogue work becomes the critical next step to ensure the Peninsula Elderly feel comfortable and safe. Please consider donating as we work to ready our mothers for employment.

🌟 Meet David Segura — Job Navigator & Skill Builder in North Fair Oaks 🌟

David Segura lives right here in North Fair Oaks and plays a vital role in our workforce program as a Job Navigator and Skill Builder.

David works closely with participants preparing for careers in Elderly Care, Childcare, and Entrepreneurship, helping them build the practical skills they need to succeed at work. Through Job Dialogue sessions, he teaches how to communicate with employers, ask questions, handle workplace situations, and advocate for themselves — skills that directly impact job readiness and economic stability.

English learning is woven into everything David does. Having taught himself English with no formal training, David understands how intimidating workplace communication can feel. He knows what it’s like to rehearse a sentence over and over or worry about saying the wrong thing, and he uses that experience to coach women with patience, clarity, and confidence.

As a job navigator, David listens to each participant’s story, helps identify strengths, and connects language learning to real-world employment goals. Working alongside Jeanne Gross, retired Canada College Dean, David is helping families move beyond learning English to using it as a pathway to long-term financial opportunity.

💙 This is what skill-based workforce support looks like.

Please consider us at this giving season. It takes $1250 to train a mother for elder care and give her the job dialogue skills she needs.

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving from RISE Academic Empowerment! 🍁

📚 REPORT CARDS ARE IN 📚

Fernanda started kindergarten reading at Levels 1–2. Today, she’s reading at Level 3 across the board — and can’t stop talking about how much she loves school.

Nelida has spent three years with RISE. This year, she jumped from Level 1 to Level 3, a milestone that reflects years of steady effort and support.

Steven, a 5th grader who once rushed through his work, learned how to slow down, focus, and engage. Now, he’s excelling in every subject.

The pattern? Consistent tutoring. Patient mentors. And yes — Jolly Ranchers 🍬.

These students aren’t just improving grades. They’re building confidence that’s changing what they believe is possible.

📈 North Fair Oaks families are rising.

🌟 Empowering RISE Mothers Through Elderly Care Training! 🌟

Big things are happening in our community! On December 2nd, eight incredible RISE mothers began a four-week Elderly Care training program in partnership with Peninsula Family Services. 💙

Every weekday afternoon, these women are showing up with dedication and heart—learning hands-on caregiving skills that will earn them their Level 1 certification by the end of the month. From there, they can advance to Levels 2 and 3, opening doors to higher-paying and more specialized positions in the field.

But the support doesn’t stop there. Peninsula Family Services will help connect graduates with families seeking in-home care, building real pathways to meaningful and stable employment.

This partnership reflects what Rise Academic Empowerment is all about—uplifting families, expanding opportunities, and strengthening our community one step at a time. We are so proud of these mothers and their commitment to building brighter futures for themselves and their families. ❤️
