CASA of San Mateo County

CASA of San Mateo County CASA of San Mateo County is a non-profit organization that recruits volunteers to be the voice of our Foster Youth.
(18)

Our mission is to ensure all abused and neglected children under the protection of the courts have a consistent and caring adult. Each year in San Mateo County, hundreds of new children and youth enter the foster care system because their parents cannot or will not take care of them. Some have been abused -- physically, sexually, or emotionally. Others have been severely neglected or abandoned. Ma

ny have been taken from their families, neighborhoods and schools and placed with people they do not know. All feel alone and overwhelmed in an overburdened court system that is difficult to navigate. Children whose pasts are marred by trauma face uncertain futures with higher risks of substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, and unemployment. CASA volunteers can be a stabilizing force amidst the chaos and provide mentoring and advocacy over the long term through caring, one-on-one relationships.
