Thanks to a collaboration with Madrona Marsh Preserve SBPC volunteers have started growing our very own CA native plants! Why? Because this allows us to be more sustainable, it also offers more opportunities for learning, and new volunteer options and locations.

The CA native plants we grow are then used for SBPC restoration projects planting and community giveaways.
Join the crew at Madrona on Thursday mornings- limited spots are available. Link in bio

We’re so excited about this and more!!!

Meet some of the amazing volunteers dedicating their time to South Bay Parkland Conservancy!

Longtime Esplanade Bluffs volunteer Naomi recently stepped up as Assistant Project Lead — she also assists with the Education committee through seed packet distribution.

Cameron is an IT and Cybersecurity professional who first joined SBPC volunteering on the Hermosa Greenbelt restoration project. He recently stepped up as volunteer IT & Website Administrator, using his expertise to keep our IT infrastructure running smoothly and safely.

Shelley is our SBPC volunteer coordinator and a plot member at the Redondo Beach Community Garden where she serves on the giving garden and compost committees. As volunteer coordinator, she is most excited about connecting people with a cause that matters to the quality of life for all South Bay residents.

Interested in sharing your talents? 🔗 in bio to our website, restoration opportunities and more!

A hard working group of 10 showed up this Saturday on the Hermosa Greenbelt. We pulled bags and bags of w**ds, mostly long grasses, to free the CA natives. Mulch was placed on the w**ded areas. More to do next Saturday. Link in bio to sign up and join the fun!

One of SBPC’s volunteers had a great experience with the Great Horned Owls in Hopkins Wilderness Park last spring.

„While working, I would regularly hear a pair of owls hooting back and forth. I’d hear the double “hoo-hoo” coming from one direction and a responding “hoo-hoo” from somewhere else. I sometimes took a break to find the owls, but to no avail. One day while walking and scanning the trees, one of the attendants came through to close the park and pointed out the owl nest to me. It was huge. I had seen it before, but that day, I saw four pairs of eyes staring back at me. „

Our 2026 mid year impact!! Incredible to see how much we can accomplish together. So grateful for all the volunteers who gave more than 5,000 or their time to make our South Bay community a better place- filled with native plants and pollinators green 🌱 🦋

We’ve always wanted to highlight the amazing volunteers behind the scenes. Aiden, Jasmine and Tatjana are just a few of the of them. Say hello next time you see them at their favorite project or on a nature walk.

Summer on the Esplanade Bluffs is a special time. We w**d in select sections (lots of searocket last week) and water specific plants with small groups of volunteers.

It’s El Segundo Blue butterfly season so we don’t get too close to the Seacliff buckwheat (the only host plant). Our community is also treated to guided walks to learn about the 🦋 and try to spot them fluttering around.
