EnCorps STEM Teachers

EnCorps STEM Teachers EnCorps STEM Teachers invites new teachers, STEM professionals, and interested educators to teach or tutor STEM subjects to Title 1 School students.

EnCorps advocates for STEM educational equity by creating programs that reenforce our mission. The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program empowers science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals to transform public education by teaching in high needs schools.Enduring STEM achievement, access, and literacy gaps disproportionately limit low income, under-resourced, and minority student opportu

nities. STEM professionals, when thoroughly prepared, are uniquely positioned to meaningfully utilize their talent and real-world expertise as EnCorps STEM Teachers to deliver an authentic, rigorous, and relevant STEM education to the students who need it most. EnCorps is an innovative, long-term solution to the shortage of high quality, impactful educators for under-resourced students in high needs schools.

During the 2025–26 school year, EnCorps connected STEM professionals with middle and high school classrooms across California through its Volunteer Guest Teaching Program.

Engineers, scientists, technologists, mathematicians, and other STEM experts partnered with experienced educators to bring real-world STEM experiences into classrooms while exploring teaching as a potential career.

The result? Thousands of students gained exposure to STEM careers, schools received meaningful instructional support, and Fellows built the confidence and experience needed to make informed decisions about becoming teachers.

EnCorps Fellow Matevz Frajnkovic recently completed his Takeover Day in the Aerospace Engineering class at John C. Fremont High School, taught by Marisol Perez, a former EnCorps Fellow. He led a very informative lesson on Thermal Management of Battery Energy Storage Systems, encouraging students to connect advanced engineering concepts to real-world applications. After the lesson, one student stated, “Mr. Mat has influenced me into looking for different career opportunities in STEAM, as there are so many opportunities I didn’t know about.”

Experiences like these help students see the many possibilities within STEM careers, broadening student perspectives. Thank you, Matevz, for inspiring the next generation of engineers and helping students envision their future pathways!
