Adopt the Arts Adopt the Arts is a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to saving the Arts in public schools. Please make a donation @ www.adoptthearts.org

Adopt the Arts is raising money to keep arts education in public schools in Los Angeles, and as we grow, we hope to move to other cities. LAUSD threatens to cut funding for arts education every year. For this current school year, the budget was cut 30% from the 2010-2011 school year. For the upcoming school year the budget has been eliminated and there will be no art and music classes in LAUSD ele

mentary schools. Parent groups and booster clubs are now required to tirelessly fundraise to pay for the arts education teachers provided by the district, or to hire their own teachers who are independent contractors. This is not possible for the vast majority of schools in the district.

Watch what happens when students are given the opportunity to discover their voice through music.

For more than a decade, Adopt the Arts has been helping elementary school students build confidence, creativity, self-expression, and a sense of belonging through consistent, high-quality music education during the school day.

In this special feature, hear directly from the educators, artists, and advocates making this work possible. From longtime Adopt the Arts music teacher Molly Shelby, reflecting on ten years of impact at Rosewood Avenue Elementary, to Ronald Goodman at Parmelee Avenue Elementary, whose position is made possible through our valued partners at Let Music Fill My World, this video highlights the power of music to transform lives.

We're also proud to share our work with the Music Impact Coalition, a national collaborative effort dedicated to strengthening and expanding music education opportunities for students everywhere.

Plus, students at Parmelee Elementary experience the power of professional mentorship through special visits from acclaimed session musician Laval Belle and fellow professional artists, who inspire the next generation through music, storytelling, and real-world experiences.

Together, these educators, artists, and partners are helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive through the power of music.

🎶 Music education changes lives. This is what that impact looks like.

What an incredible day at BeachLife Festival! 🎶☀️

We are beyond grateful to and for partnering with Adopt the Arts Foundation to help support music education for elementary school students. Through this amazing collaboration, an incredible $27,500 was raised to help bring music, creativity, and opportunity into classrooms.

Our students from Rosewood Avenue Elementary had the experience of a lifetime — from visiting the iHeartRadio studios with Stryker, to attending BeachLife Festival, to stepping on stage alongside Matt Sorum, their school ambassadorJohn Stamos, and Hyundai leadership to help introduce Joan Jett & The Blackhearts!

Thank you to everyone who visited the Hyundai activation, participated in the auction, and helped support the next generation of young artists. Moments like these remind us how powerful music and community can be.

What a way to close out an incredible season!

This Saturday, our Changels Honor Choir proudly represented SEVEN schools as they performed on the main stage in front of the iconic Battleship USS Iowa Museum during Los Angeles Fleet Week at the Port of Los Angeles — sharing their voices in front of thousands of attendees.

Watching these students take the stage with such joy, confidence, heart, and unity was a beautiful reminder of the power of music and community.

To our amazing graduating 5th graders — we will miss you so much. Thank you for your leadership, your spirit, your laughter, and the love you brought to this choir. As you move on to your next adventures, we know each of you will continue to shine brightly and make a difference wherever life takes you.

Always keep music in your hearts. Keep choosing kindness. Keep believing in yourselves.

And remember… once a Changel, ALWAYS a Changel. ❤️🎶✨
